Favorite dish(es) from your turkey day? - Non-Americans feel free to abstain

As I'm a single dude and have no family in town this year, I went to a couple different friends throughout the day to celebrate.

At friends number one, my favorite dish was the duck with an apple chutney (made with ducks we shot out of his boat a couple weeks ago), as properly cooked duck always is, it was out of this world. His cousin also brought hands down some of the best deviled eggs I have ever had. I did not expect a deviled egg of all things to be a standout food memory for the day but these were amazing.

The next meal was fantastic, and I really enjoyed the ham they made, but what blew my mind was an out of left field side, which was called by my friend "pepperoni pizza mac n cheese". Not exactly my idea of a traditional Thanksgiving side, but this shit blue my fucking mind. Had to ask the aunt that brought it to FB me the recipe cause I wanna eat that shit again.

All in all, in Alice's Restaurant style I had multiple Thanksgivin dinners that couldn't be beat.

I ate as many calories as Amberlynn does on a normal thursday. I am now finally back home, sipping whiskeys on ice and smoking one hitters, as full and content as can be. I'm going to pass out here in a bit.

I sighted in my deer gun for this coming season in the morning, I ate some great food, and the bears actually won a game today to top it all off.

I hope all my fellow americans, nay, all of fellow mankind had an amazing day today.

Jah bless.

I like to make homemade cranberry sauce with orange juice, cinnamon, cloves and ginger

Another favorite is stuffing. For the stuffing I used fresh thyme, rosemary, parsley and sage.

Cranberry sauce and stuffing are my favorites. It does not taste like Thanksgiving without those items.

Asparagus with melted feta and mushrooms. That and sweet potatoes. Barely touched any turkey.

Were you on drugs this thanksgiving, op?

Anyway, my favorites this year were greenbean casserole, cornbread stuffing, and hawaiian rolls with garlic salt. We had some kickass deserts too, like a pumpkin and cream cheese cake, pumpkin pie with cream cheese swirl, and a pumpkin roll (do you see a pattern here?). Smaller quantities then usuall because we have a habit of going overboard and some of the shit going to waste, so it's all getting eaten.

It was just me and my gf so we didn't make a full dinner, she's also not American so she doesn't have any Thanksgiving standbys so we just made some sides from my family's Thanksgiving dinners. Mashed potatoes, gravy (not great since it wasn't made with turkey drippings), green bean casserole, pumpkin pie and my favorite wild rice stuffing (also not as good since it wasn't cooked in a turkey).

My entire meal this year was on point even though there was 14+ hours of chaos and panic behind it.
We got a big fam so there's an ungodly amount of food just to make sure everyone has something they'll eat.

-Main dish was spiced maple & apple glazed turkey that had been sitting in a brine for two days prior, cooked low and slow. Made gravy from the drippings and aromatics stuffed into the bird and used the compound butter throughout a few more dishes. Next year we're gonna add bourbon to the glaze.

-Homemade stuffing. Started with a cornbread base but added a stovetop box into my dry mix to try to keep the moisture content balanced. Threw compound batter in here too, plus some sausage.

-Cream corn recipe that we basically do for every big holiday or gathering but man it's too good. (We got the recipe for this in 2010 off of Allrecipes tbh)

-Your typical sweet potato casserole, we don't really do too much special to this beyond using an actual vanilla bean to enhance the flavor.

-Slow cooker mashed taters with turkey drippings mixed in and spices, honestly simple but perfect.

-Green bean casserole with sauteed onions and mushrooms combined through.

-Garlic mushrooms because why not? They were nice.

-Spinach casserole with parmesan, which is probably the best thing ever. I'm a fan of spinach.

-Dessert was choice between apple or pumpkin pie but I couldn't do it....I was coma'd the fuck out by then. There's still leftovers and I'm eyeballing that apple pie.

My family's tradition is to eat Mexican food on Thanksgiving despite being 0% Mexican. Last few years I've made posole, which I love. This year's was perfect since I didn't overdo the amount of chilies like last time (which was still delicious but our pasty white selves were sniffling and tearing up all through dinner).
I also made tortillas from fresh masa and they were my best ones yet.
Other notable tastiness includes two homemade salsas and flan. I considered making horchata but got store-bought instead. I was anticipating another really hot posole so I thought quantity would be important.
The flan was followed with chocolate turkeys from Trader Joe's. Gotta have some chocolate in there!

Listen next time if you can and you're into it get rumchata. That stuff is fire.

Also, Mexican food on Thanksgiving is oddly appropriate. Makes me wanna go make a shit ton of tamales.

My Dad's American so we celebrate the holiday even though Britbongs only "celebrate" the Black Friday part of Thanksgiving (AKA: shops force it upon us and we don't give a shit about it). There's this gravy recipe my grandmother from the States passed down to my mom that is to die for and every person we've invited over who's had a taste of it can never go back to Bisto afterwards. Always look forward to having it every year on Turkey Day and Christmas.

Turkey stuffing

Context: My mom actually cooks like a competent woman is supposed to, so Thanksgiving dinner is basically the same as any other dinner except larger in scale and with turkey. So none of the dishes stand out anyways. Turkey stuffing is delicious, and I would happily eat it by itself.

My husband's family thinks they are cool so Tgiving dinner was shitty food in an expensive Manhattan restaurant. I ordered the most Thanksgivingy thing from the prix fixe menu and got a pile of chopped up turkey in gravy. At least it was mostly dark meat.

It was a bummer. My mom and I already planned Christmas food for her house. Hope it makes up for turkey day.

Someone's vietnamese spouse brought egg rolls to Thanksgiving and now my life is worse because I can't eat those egg rolls every day.

I like Thanksgiving food but multi-cultural potluck style Thanksgivings are the best.
