Unpopular opinion, but I really like the ending to Return of the King. I get why a lot of people don't since it is really long, but it works for me because it translated the raw emotion I felt when I was finishing the book to movie form. You spent the past 7-11 hours (depending on what cut you were watching) following these characters, their trials and tribulations. Then the ring is destroyed, and all the characters are reunited before going their separate ways. In a way, the ending is like saying good bye to them, especially Frodo who suffered the most emotional damage over the course of the trilogy.

No matter how many times I watch that scene at the docks, I always feel a little choked up. And I always make sure to watch the first few minutes of the credits with the actors' portraits as Into the West plays. It's like a true farewell.

I won't deny that the ending is drawn out, and would tire most people, but that ending is beautiful to me, and it's retained its power even after multiple viewings.

Joyeux Noël's ending (I haven't found an english sub/dub version of that scene, sadly):

> Pulls the "No fun allowed" thing by destroying Jörg's harmonica (And telling Horstmayer that he doesn't deserve his Iron Cross.)
> Soldiers start to hum "I'm dreaming of home (Hymne des fraternises)" as the train departs.

Goddammit you took mine lol.

Ah what the hell, I'll go with this one because of how fucking bizarre and out-of-place it is lol.

How to Train Your Dragon's ending I think was amazing, because what kids' film these days is ballsy enough to take a main character's leg? But also had an amazing score to go with it.
I'm honestly dreading the ending to the third film, not going to lie. I'm still not ready for the feels trip.

Mmmmmm, You were never really here was great, loved the ending too.

Takes you by surprise and at the same time is a clear example of the whole main character exploration in the film

Besides that one:
  • A Ghost Story
  • Upgrade
  • Brawl in cell block 99
  • First reformed
Might be forgetting more.

Rear Window, Dark Crystal, Return to Oz, Casa Blanca, The Fly, Neverending Story, Predator and Rocky's endings are easily the most satisfying endings I've ever enjoyed in Cinema, as well as the ending of the third part of Tales from the Dark Side: The Movie "Lover's Vow". But if I had to pick just one, I'd be torn between Dark Crystal and Return to Oz.

That fucking scene with that music is heavenly and it blows me away every time.

Couldn't find a clip of Return to Oz's ending, so here's the scene prior to the final stretch.

On top of my head, I'll go with

Terminator 2,
Raiders of the Lost Ark,
The Good, the Bad, the Ugly,
For a Few Dollars More, and
Maybe Batman Begins just for the Joker's card tease

Probably a lot others I would want to name.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yxb9h4TrvNo Just a sweet ending here. Great closing track, the ending of an epic partnership between two actors we'll see in an even better Western, and of course the man with no name leaves with the money. Classic.
