The one good thing to come out of the Star Wars prequels was the score. Williams' doesn't get enough credit for being the trilogy's saving grace, and it pains me that great music has to be associated with such bad films.

I love the Dambusters March, but I can't for the life of me sit through the movie itself because of the slow pacing. I had the chance to play the march as part of a full orchestra, it was really great fun.

Almost anything by Thomas Newman. Obviously Shawshank and American Beauty are standouts, but there are plenty of others.

I also really loved what Cliff Martinez (ex Chili Pepper) did for Soderbergh's Solaris.

Also anything Mark Mothersbaugh has done for Wes Anderson

And anything Carter Burwell has done for the Coen Bros.

I'm on mobile so I can't post any videos atm, but the scores that Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross did for The Social Network and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo are my absolute favorites.

He and Karen O of Yeah Yeah Yeahs also did an excellent cover of Led Zepplin's Immigrant Song for that movie. Come to think of it, I should add that in the Song Cover thread.

James Horner has created some of the best scores in modern movie history -- even in movies I don't care for his music is one of the saving graces. Rest in peace, you've done some great work.

My absolute favorite piece of his is Casper's Lullaby from, well, Casper (1995). On mobile so I can't link to it but it's on YouTube in all its haunting, simplistic glory.

I was watching Bridge of Spies and wondered if the score was done by Randy Newman, lo and behold it was the other Newman

Other favorites are:
Georges Delerue

Alan Silvestri

And other obvious choices like Morricone, Williams et. al

Also liked the OST for David Lynch's Dune by Toto with one track by Brian Eno:

I'm not that big into Jazz, but the score to Godard's Breathless is amazing and makes the movie even more enjoyable.

Also, I like the score from the Terminator. Even the song playing in the first film in the club scene ("you got me running") is perfect.

Ennio Morricone is undoubtedly my favourite movie composer, to the extent that I've watched films purely because he did the soundtrack. His collaborations with Sergio Leone are the best of the best in my opinion, as Leone actually used them to influence his direction. The music becomes an absolutely integral part of the film. Here's a scene that illustrates that, from the end of the underrated For a Few Dollars More:
