I predict DSP will like it. PC drama to feign superiority and indifference about that people will tip/cheer about and he can pretend he knows nothing about, story driven FPS, single player focus, not exactly a hard series of games, etc. It’s right up his alley.

I still don't get how these fucking people keep coming out of the wood work. It's crazy when you think that Phil is supported by roughly 30-40 people who consistently give him money.

It was always pretty weird how rando's came out of the woodwork to support Phil just as things were going bad. After E7, my theory is they're legitimate fans who watch Phil from the sidelines and save up to unleash large donations/gift subs. It certainly helps keep Phil afloat, but it is also part of Phil's problem. He's too reliant on big donators and tippers. Phil has always been pretty dismissive towards smaller donations, but lately, it feels like he's taken it to the next level. He's too focused on one time large payments to see the value in repeated small payments.

The larger payments naturally draw more attention and are more memorable, but streamers/patreon content creators/whatever else Phil technically counts as really make the bulk of their money off of small, but repeatable transactions. One guy giving 5 bucks might not seem like a big deal, but if that person keeps reliably donating 5 bucks throughout the week it quickly adds up, especially if there's a bunch of other guys who also keep donating 5 bucks. Phil doesn't offer any incentive for people to make small donations like this because he barely acknowledges them, or if he does, he's almost bitter towards them for not donating more.

Anyway, my big take away is the number of big named paypigs are dropping off. There's a few repeat paypigs who seem to consistently come back or at least make more frequent appearances, but others basically do one large burst of donations and then fade away. Maybe they're saving up again for another large donation, but it isn't happening frequently enough to do anything more than keep Phil aloft. He can't rely on E7 swooping in every few months to drop 20k because it took who knows how long for E7 to get that in the first place. It's extra damaging for Phil who has no sense of saving or spending in general, so he can't recognize these were one time large donations and keeps spending like they are a constant flow of income. That's really been Phil's big problem since his YouTube days, so I don't see it changing anytime soon. This might also be optimistic as hell, but I think he's actually hitting a point where his spending has finally outpaced the rate of savior paypigs. I don't think his downfall is around the corner or anything, but I think he has at most a few years left if he doesn't change things, and Phil doesn't exactly have a great track record when it comes to change.

That's because Phil doesn't want to change. He's too lazy and full of hubris to admit that this way collecting donations from paypigs and whales is unstable and won't last very long. He will most likely keep doubling down on his wasteful spending and depend more on large donations from whales and paypigs to keep him going on in the future. He'll be force to change unless they stop giving him money, but we all know that won't happen.

I agree and I was kind of alluding to that. If just 10-20 of these whales go away than Phil is done. The ride is over. And like you said, he doesn't care about small donations which discourages repeat small donations from the autists.

This is dead on. I watch TimtheTatMan on Twitch sometimes, and I've noticed that he seems to read out every single tip of $5 or more, answer/respond to their comment/question if there is one, and thank them. Not surprisingly, while he does get larger donations of $100 or more on a pretty regular basis, Tim's probably getting double or triple those large donation amounts when you add up the small ones. Widespread small tips and subs seem to be the way to consistently make bank on Twitch. That's the impression I get, anyway.

It's a business model that typically applies to any type of job/project where your money comes directly from supporters and not investors. Like with Patreon, good creators focus more on the lower tier perks because this makes up the majority of their income. It's also why a lot of patreons have milestones instead of just high tier sub option. You have a greater chance of incentivizing multiple people to submit a few bucks to hit a $500 milestone goal versus trying to incentivize a single whale to contribute $500 with some awesome $500 patreon tier reward. Those people contributing a few bucks each month are also way more likely to keep donating versus the single expensive donor, since unless you are extremely lucky and manage to catch some oil baron, chances are that person only had a single month donation just to get whatever the top perk is.

One of Phil's many streaming mistakes is he always undervalues his Patreon. For whatever reason, Phil put significantly more value on Twitch subs instead of Patreon. In terms of payout, Twitch takes a steeper cut than Patreon. There is the sub gifting aspect, but chances are the paypigs who mass donate gift subs for attention would just default back to huge bit donations to get noticed. Phil could also encourage this by swapping sub goals out with bit goals. Bits also give a better payout, since Twitch takes the cut from the initial bit purchase. Anyway, I could marketing sperg for awhile and talk about all the big and little things Phil does wrong/could easily change if he wasn't so lazy, but we've already veered pretty far from the subject of Metro.

So, slightly back on topic, over/under on Metro getting streamed again? I give it maybe two more streams tops before Phil rage quits due to disappointing tip/cheer "interactivity"

Literally everyone gets 1 in their entire life. But Phil is smelling like tuna, they come in regular quantities as soon as there is space. This is not random, can't be. It has to be based on the fact that he is a well known lolcow and everyone want to let their dick hang out. And quite frankly it works at least towards us. WE talk about those whales (etc) regularly, they get attention. We could be part of the problem.

Only if you view a new nurse coming in to change Phil's IV drip once in a while as a problem. I'll freely admit to teetering on the edge of desperately wanting to see this man streaming his gameplay from a cardboard box on the rainsoaked streets of Seattle, still acting like he's the realest motherfucker at the homeless shelter (Mondays, Wednesdays, and alternating Fridays only) but the ride won't be the same after Phil crashes into ruination. The joy is in the slow, inevitable decline, the knowledge that three of the four engines have flamed out and there just is no pulling up to avoid gliding right into the side of the mountain.

Phil may know it. He may not. Or he may just be deluding himself. But the fact remains that this ride only goes one way. Hastening it, wanting to see his whales vanish wholesale all at once, that just speeds it up. Even if you hate him (and God knows I have in moments past, and undoubtedly will again in future), do you want to see him go in one glorious implosion that will be over in a second? Or would you rather watch him bleed out over months, struggling and gasping and reaching for the light, before, at last, he flatlines?

I'm wondering if Phil will have 1 final video where he goes ballistic on haters and we just never see him again. These big sub bombs are just enabling him because he doesn't know how to handle lump sums. I think in his head he says "yeah ill be responsible ill use it for taxes". Once money arrives then he changes his mind and is like "ill use a little for my credit card".

I don't get how he can feel any sense of accomplishment, how he can even react to earning yet another Playstation trophy or XBox achievement. But still, after doing nothing but play video games for however many years now:

*PS4 trophy chime
Phil: "Oh! I earned a trophy."
*Phil reads trophy name
Phil: "Very nice!"
*Phil nods in self-congratulation

Funny, I haven't seen a single video of Phail in weeks and psyche feels super relaxed. Just a glimpse of detractor video or a tweet. I literally don't care for any of his current games. Not because I want to play them but because Phail is unbearable.

Of course I will watch Metro as soon as someone wraps it up in one of the TOTALLY died off genre of TIHYDP.

Lmao, astonishing that he'd even care about a trophy that's a part of the story and everyone else got as well. I get it if it's a platinum trophy that 0.1 per cent of people got, but this is just exceptional.

Guess Phil just likes winning.

Amazing. Told myself to stop watching DSP but I couldn't. Tuned in for Five minutes to see him in some desert wasteland. Just wondering around, expecting the same commentary as usual. The whole scene reminded me how his streams are: Dry, barren, and tumbleweeds everywhere.
Boy his line up of games are absolute shit.
