If the game doesn't play itself its the developers fault that Phil can't make any headway into a game.
I'd say that it is a great streaming game. If you played this game a certain way, you can watch someone else play it with different builds and see what strategies they use to tackle the same obstacles.
The fact that Phil would never even attempt that is more than enough reason to believe it when people say that he sucks as a streamer.

It would be one thing if such assertions by him were apologetic, like he's telling his audience that he hasn't played enough challenging games and it has taken a toll on him, or something. But Phil doesn't ever frame anything that way, he NEVER talks about things he doesn't like about himself, or ways in which he has, to any extent, let himself go. He doesn't consider his fighting game skills rusty in the least, when just about anyone else who hasn't competed in many years absolutely would.
It's mind-boggling, isn't it? Especially if it's not deliberate, out of spite.
That rule functions on the assumption that you're using the time directed at getting better at the task or skill. They don't account for looking for a fifty bit bitch to hand hold you in relay chat online as counting towards the hour threshold. He is the only person I am aware of on the PLANET who makes $100k+ and doesn't think about their job as soon as they clock out. How can he not be doing errands, taking a shit etc. and casually thinking 'oh yeah, if I do this thing and then that thing I can beat the bit I'm stuck on' or 'this is a good strategy'? He just does not give a shit, it's amazing.
He claims to be passionate, but passionate people do that exact thing all the time. Shit, even mildly interested people think about the games they've been playing.
Or how to improve his stream during downtime, when his job and attached money fills his entire existence. Instead of investing in a greenscreen, webcam, professional artist, or any other quality enhancements which was either promised to or suggested by his fans, during a time when he was swimming in money.
