hmm soldier uses high capacity assault rifle to go on mass shooting rampage. If only there were more restrictions on these murder devices designed only to kill. Only the military should have such dangerous weapons of war.

Sarcasm aside, there is a genuine problem if that weapon was government property. I support the right of civilians to bear arms, but a professional armed force, even in a gun permissive society, is expected to secure their goddamned armory properly. This shithead might have just ended the careers of several officers and NCOs if he waltzed out the door with that thing.
People have never cared much about Thailand (unfortunately), I doubt much will come out of it since he's very clearly Thai. Maybe at worst a criticism of mental health in the army and how they treat soldiers.

Dude, this is Thailand. Everyone has a gun. It's home to all these ex military guys. There is no way this guy isn't being shot by police/military, be it in a stand off or after capture. He's a dead man walking.

Given that he's a soldier, and first started his killing spree in an army base using his service weapons, I'm not really sure where all this talk of "the media is going to push for gun control!!!" is coming from. We've had green on blue attacks before in Afghanistan, yet not a word was said about 'gun control'. Not from the MSM, at least.
Indonesia is in the same boat. They haven't reported any cases, but that's because they currently don't have the capabilities to diagnose the disease quickly for another week or two, when the equipment they need finally arrives from overseas.
I would assume Thailand is in a similar situation, but I could be wrong.
