"Gay men didn't start the trans movement because semantics"I disagree with you that agps were more rare. They were just called something else and weren't part of the trans umbrella, yet.
Basically, you're conflating transsexual with transvestite. Keep in mind, in the 60s and before, there was no transgender. You either had transsexuals, which were primarily hsts, or transvestite/cross-dressers, which can now be called agps. Also, Blanchard didn't come up with his typology of transsexualism until the 80s.
With that in mind, transsexuals back in the day were primarily homosexuals, while most cross dressers were straight men with humiliation fetishes.
It wasn't until current era, that we have the trans umbrella, where everything, transsexual and transvestite, are literally the same thing (transgender).

For the love of all things good, do not engage with this guy. Don't start a slap fight. There is overlap with transvetites and AGP, though yes, there are some distinctions. I would like to point out that I have yet to seen any woman get off on the fact she's wearing men's clothes and/or underwear. Even on the r/FTMs sites, I have yet to hear any of them getting aroused because they put on a men's suit, or are prancing around in tighty whiteys. Usually, TIFs claim "omg really feeling my masculinity now bros!"
There is also a lot of transvestites now proclaiming themselves women. Becacuse paraphilias only get more extreme, they never lessen or disappear, and with now proclaiming yourself a trans woman is praised by society, no matter what your reasons are.
