The Channel

No thread for this yet as far as I can tell. It’s a cosmic horror/comedy/drama live-action series with cgi eldrich abomination characters. Most of the creature designs are pretty cool and the characters are interesting. The story’s vibe so far is a little too edgelord for me to say I love it, but I’m fascinated and interested enough to want to know where it’s going. Overall it’s impressive for an indie youtube series. If anybody else watches it and wants to talk about it, holler.

Yeah but if the Nostalgia Critic brand can give some exposure to something as weird as Satellite City, why not. I’m not into CA myself, but if it makes cosmic horror and eldrich abominations a little more mainstream, I can at least appreciate it for that. I thought the whole sequence looked great.

Caught Deadwing Dork's stream, I'm surprised how good the 3D is, even the character design looks neat sometimes ignoring how many of them are Tumblr tier edgy furries. What bothers me is the animation I've seen so far, none of them aren't animated in an interesting way, seems like most are shot above the chest and it's entirely dialog based.

I have no idea what the plot is but I can tell that the creator has no talent in character writing, and I bet most of the voice acting is volunteer based, reminds me too much of the voice work of those Randy Stair Danny phantom animations.

This show kinda pisses me off in impression because there are significantly less talented people that tries harder and provide a more impressive web series. This is playing into it's weakness instead of expanding it's strength; in the end, it looks mildly unsettling and boring since the camera work is standard and writing is stiff.

I admit I'm probably not going to watch it, but I assume you are a fan, I'd like to know what's the appeal to this show? I'm not being facetious, watching those clips brought a lot of questions and I wonder if it holds together stronger if given a watch seriously.

I summed up why it interested me in the OP. Seperate from whatever may be going on with the creator, his animation is decent for an indie youtuber and his writing is, at the absolute worst, passably competent.

Every line of dialogue has at least one "fuck"-or, failing that, a "cunt"-it's Hunt Down rhe Freeman-tier dialogue. Even if this series was pure audio it would still be grating.

I don't have a terribly extensive knowledge of Fennah or Satellite City, just a passing interest since 'The Wall' video. I think his animation is pretty decent and impressive for something made by a single person, even if not my taste.

I read something Fennah wrote where he said Bob represented things that seem harmless or appealing but ultimately hurt people (like drugs or something). If that's true and in the context of the story, it doesn't work at all, as the Bob character doesn't hurt the character that likes him, he just exists, unquestioningly loving his owner the same way a dog or cat would before he's murdered. So when he gets thrown into the fire, it doesn't prove any point, it just reads as cruelty for the sake of cruelty. Were it to work in the story, Bob would have to be shown actually causing harm in some way, and in a way other than 'making people soft' by liking a pet.

Hi, I'm here cause of DeadwingDork's stream. The first time I saw people posting screencaps of these characters on /co/ (I didn't watch the Nostalgia Critic's review because I haven't sat through one since his comeback) I took one look at that that shit and said "Well, this is obviously a fetish." I don't fucking know how or why I'm able to recognize that sort of thing but like, the way the characters stand, the fact that they all have proportions that emphasize their hips and asses, the detail on their fur, how over-designed and needlessly gaudy all their accessories and features are, it's all just gross. It's like an edgy demon deviantart sparkle dog world, with a few Jack Skellingtons thrown in and fat titty demon ladies. It was like the guy was jerking off the whole time he was designing his characters.

The fact that is so obviously weird, niche fetish shit and the author is so weaselly and indirect about it is what I find super offputting. Everything about it is just really gross. Which makes the fact that they showed up in a Nostalgia Critic review funny because Doug, without knowing it, is prancing around in a world full of fetish sex characters.

The treatment of Bob, while his purpose as an allegory to addiction doesn’t come through as well as it should, still makes sense in the context of the species’ culture. Again, this is a thread for the show. Even if Fennah does actually think like this, the show still makes it clear that the savage nature of these creatures is self-destructice.

Again, the thread for sperging about the guy that makes it is elsewhere. We don’t need two threads that are hot garbage and it’s not what I want for mine.
