And yes, it's awful that diseases we eliminated in this country because a few people bought into a scare caused by some quack in another country.

Yeah, people don't realize that autism doesn't necessarily guarantees that your kid will be retarded, especially if you take the time to get him the proper treatment and education he/she needs.

This kind of reminds me, I probably need my immunizations updated before I go off to college.

Eh, the fact that my twin brother and I both have autism kinda makes that theory a little hard to believe. Unless by some sheer force of chance, we both got autism right after we got vaccinated. Which is kinda unlikely.

Yeah, I have autism and I have a cousin with autism, it definitely has to do with genetics and better diagnosis. The more high functioning people with autism are being included and the people who were just labeled as retarded are now autistic.

Apparently I have heard Michigan has one of the highest autism rates... Dunno how accurate that is though...

It really does boil down to better diagnosis tools and practices. It's like how fifteen years ago suddenly more kids were being diagnosed with ADD/ADHD: it's because of the fact that doctors were now more understanding of the disease and could make a more accurate diagnosis. Currently we're seeing an influx of people on the autistic spectrum for the same reason: it's easier to diagnose and treat (at least in most circumstances).

It's not as if this disease just started happening after vaccination became a common practice, after all.

I think they use her to bolster whatever preconceived fears they have about vaccines, rather than as the main source of those fears. At least I kind of hope so.

I thought they listened to her because she used to get naked as a profession, which is interesting, and so whatever opinion she has about something important must also be interesting--oh, fuck, it hurts my brain trying to rationalize like her supporters.
