And Rin officially joins the FFXIV lolcow of people to watch. I wonder how his wife and kids feel that his FFXIV addiction has turned him into an "asexual." The comments in this tweet are of course what you expect from people cheering on Twitter's version of being an incel.

I'm hoping that endwalker brings in better content creators then the ones we have currently.

Unlikely, if anything I get the feeling the next expansion is gonna be the edgiest and will attract even worse mouthbreathers

Yeah we probably won't. This game isn't that content creator friendly and most videos are things that can take a minute to go over are extended to be 20 minutes long. Someone linked me a video of that Menoi guy and he was talking about one of the new areas, spending 1/3 of it talking about them growing crops and the fake sun to grow them. Like holy fuck dude, it's obvious it's their dooms day shelter. Let's not get started on all the overdone job stereotype videos or "why i quit WoW" bait videos. FFXIV youtubers just fucking suck.

Is Menoi the guy that just reads patch notes and passes it off as content?
You described most FFXIV Youtubers but yes, he does that and shows off mog station items off in his videos, which he buys with patreon money he's given, which he claims was made to "cut costs down on Internet and equipment." He'll even make a video talking about hotfixes which for some fucking reason. He doesn't even do end-game content.

i love when meoni releases new 30 minute videos on one mogstation outfit. he’s so boring and people constantly defend him despite it’s just a way to milk youtube ad money.

there’s the fashionista who does similar videos but they’re much shorter.

What's next? Is he going to become trans like Keyori from League of Legends because he likes Kingdom Hearts?

Rin tells a female mentor on the balance discord this shit

We're a joke because someone's performance isn't 100 all the time on the logging website. Not because we're run by crazy gender identity people.

It must be true that all ultimate raiders are oppressed, they're all closet trannies/lgbt flakes.

A lot of ff14 'tubers suck, even the better ones like mr happy crying about death threats and donating to the trevor project and desperius having his big brain nibba take on why ff14 needs stuff like wow are still spergs.
The only thing that WoW has that FFXIV doesn't is unlimited glamour storage.

WoW didn't have unlimited storage, it had something like what ff14 has now that is the void storage before they added an "appearance log" in legion, which would be great to add.

I honestly think this is the biggest driving factor behind some of the excitement of the current WoW refugee wave hitting us right now. Even the content creators for WoW are getting fucking sick of Blizzard's bullshit. If we can get some of the higher quality WoW content creators to also throw a few vids at FFXIV, that'd be a big pickup. Bellular especially has been a mainstay in the WoW Youtube scene. It'd be interesting if he put out some FFXIV content occasionally.

FFXIV Youtube content is probably the most insufferable video game content out there.

It's at an absolute all time low with all of the problems that WoW is having - with the WoW content creators trying FFXIV means that the FFXIV youtubers are trying all of the "Youtube" things to get attention from it.

There's a whole deluge of videos everytime Asmongold says "Final Fantasy" that every FFXIV content creator has a video "Me reaction to Amongold reaction to BelluarGaming reacting to FFXIV". It's fucking terrible.

What would be a good FFXIV youtuber though is the question we should all be asking ourselves. I know there's one guy who makes guides with nice animations and it's all text.

I thought that Speakers Network's explanation of the developmental history of FFXIV plus going forward at the time was pretty good and right in the wheelhouse of the sort of thing I like watching.

I think I'd also like some well-produced documentary-styled videos going over the extensive lore and world-building that's in the game, and in such a format where several topics are strung together to explain one overarching piece of in-universe history, because there are a lot of individual elements that factor together into a larger narrative.

EDIT: Also some storytime videos in the vein of, say, Madseason, where someone talks about the changes to XIV and the general atmosphere of the playerbase at each stage of the game's life cycle, for better or worse, in addition to reminiscing about their experiences. I think it's probably the fact that there's a whole lot of "for worse" on that matter is what holds anyone back from capitalizing on that undertaking, plus you have a very vocal portion of the game's fans who will try to shout you out of a room if you dare to say one negative thing about the game's players. Then there's also the fact that most people who've stuck with the game from the beginning almost always seem to have skeletons in their own closets that they don't want to get outed for by drawing any heat on themselves.

EDIT #2: Thinking just a bit more on the matter, I'd also like to see someone make some kind of longform video essay making a credible defense of Stormblood, and I mean everything about Stormblood, purely for edification's sake. Mostly because every single person I've ever questioned on why they think Stormblood was great has always given me a bunch of non-answers, dismissals, or "I never had that problem/That was never a problem" (that last one in particular in regards to how Warrior was nerfed into the fucking ground at the very beginning of Stormblood and really only got "fixed" a major patch or two later to be the OP braindead HAHA I SPAM FELL CLEAVE machine it became for a while there). I want to see someone intelligently try to explain the merits of certain contentious story beats. I, and many others, may still not agree when all's said and done, but at least we can get some well-reasoned takes out of that sort of content.

I remember watching these videos. Sadly it seems they've gone poof and work on another generic FFXIV podcast. Lore videos would be nice but most people aren't gonna care about side quests. Talking about someone like Diablos who has appeared multiple times in this game could be interesting. He yet makes another appearance as the allagan weapon you see in Zadnor.

I always felt that Speaker's Network series on this made a really good companion piece to the NoClip documentary covering the same thing. Speaker's Network did a really good job talking about the player perspective and their experience with the shift, and NoClip's high level journalistic take on the actual business and logistical side of it all happening was really good as well.

Yeah, stormblood really falls into someone disliked the expansion or someone likes it because "I just did." I'm pretty sure the warrior changes for 4.2 was them testing out stuff for ShB warrior.

joonbob. my static tends to use his videos for most of our stuff. like they’re good but there’s some stuff that didn’t translate well into a guide. (ie LR in es8 )
