Is he painting these gold or is the actual clay material gold?

Because if it's the latter...these things will not hold together for long. The bonding between the gold stuff and the actual medium will be too weak and simply existing will eventually cause it to crumble into dust.

Considering you can see fingerprints in the material and the gold part reflects light differently than the painted parts, looks like the material itself is gold.

I don’t usually speak up on Chris Chan-related topics (not my forte) but I have a feeling that it’s made with some form of polymer clay, it’s pretty easy to find gold-colored ones online.
