Fire Emblem and SRPG Fans, you can now make your own games in English -

  • Intermittent Denial of Service attack is causing downtime. Looks like a kiddie 5 min rental. Waiting on a response from upstream.

It's pretty pricey, and the DLC is obscenely expensive (wait for a sale, it's nothing too special), but if you wanted to make your own Shining Force or Fire Emblem game, this is definitely up your alley.

It uses Javascript for coding, and it's possible to break the ingame limits and do all sorts of crazy shit if you're a good coder.

It's been used extensively in the Japanese indie scene, now English speakers can join in on the fun.

I'm personally hoping some clever scripters make it so I can make my own fanmade Super Robot Wars games, but it's already pretty versatile out of the box.

I've always wanted to learn coding and this seems like a good excuse. But not at $60. I'll put it on my wishlist and wait for a sale.

Trust me on this. These RPG Maker games go on sale frequently and for dirt cheap (if you value dirt at 30 bucks at best.)

Also love how the worst levels in FE (Desert) is DLC assets. Terrible ideas are now an option.

Sounds like a plan.

I bought it at full price because I had the money, and I can say the stock engine is INSANELY moddable.

Every stock limit and value can be edited, practically NOTHING is hardcoded.

Even RPG Maker MV (which also uses Javascript) isn't THAT flexible.

And if you know shit about coding, good news, the JS files all have a ton of footnotes for noobs. An utter dumbass would have to try to be lost trying to edit stuff.

If you want to save your pennies, wise call if you can't afford it now, but right out the gate the engine is obscenely flexible.

I might actually put that on my Wishlist too, the latest RPG Maker. Its not that its too expensive, its just that I'm too poor. Plus hoping for some sci-fi DLC.
