Havnt played in a very long time but picked it back up for the anniversary and they added a ton of systems. Kind of totally lost on what I need to do. Is there a returning players guide or something that I can get a link to?

There's tutorials on the game modes but the core hasnt changed too much. How long were you out for? I could probably give you a quick rundown
Maybe I just didnt play it enough but I have like 20 5 stars, and have 3+ acts in the story to complete. Last time I played it was mostly doing the aether keep and arenas. Now there are flowers and elemental teams and stuff like that which I dont remember being in the gaame at all unless I totally forgot.
Also apparently auto battle was added but is behind a paywall? Thats a core feature on a lot of gacha games I am surprised its just not implemented.

Well. Autobattle isn't technically behind a paywall, but contiguous autobattle is, so if you wanted to autobattle a training tower map a set number of times based on your SP, you can set it to, for instance, 6 times as it uses 54 SP (9/map) and the game will loop it for you. I'll admit it's really convenient.
I think other gachas have that but idk which lol

Paywall- that was a point of aggravation when it was introduced for the reason you said. It also adds Resplendent Heroes, which are old units with art based around the Heroes nations and a slight stat boost. Entirely optional imo, although I would like a non-shit Florina.
Flowers are basically consumables to add to units to help stave off powercreep, basically to make gen 1 units less awful. Lots of old units got prf's and refines to help too
Elemental is stuff for Aether Raids mainly, theres an explanation for what the effects are each week but esporting on that mode is insanity. The game gives some free 5* units that help like Fjorm, Eir and Peony.
Arena at its core is unchanged, just lots of cancer running around. As always
The trailer for the next Tempest Trials is up. Last years' Echoes-themed banner was FAR better, imo; IF I drop some Orbs it'll be solely for the Líf/Thrásir Duo.
iirc, lots of the complains come less from Gatekeeper himself and more because there are rumors about his fans using bots to rig the polls to their favor. Which would be interesting if it's true.
IDC a lot for it, I'm mostly waiting for my favorite TT banners like the Dance one and ESPECIALLY Fallen Heroes. I really want that Fallen King!Chrom from Cipher to be there.
(I like Camilla, tho. And her Queen of Nohr alter is definitely the best healer I've ever had in FEH alongside Sephiran, so NO REGRETS on picking her.)

I seldom pay attention to the newer, more meta skills unless I'm aiming to maintain Tier 20.5.
So Voting Gauntlet is on round 3 with the options of a free unit for all players being either Seiros or Lyn and Florina in weeby ninja gear.

I have only 60 orbs, lemme mourn with you. 
Marianne is my favorite Golden Deer and I want her badly but I wouldn't be shocked if the banner will be all "NOT TODAY, BITCH" when I roll for her.
I don't have either the Yuri Ninja Gals or Dragon Booty Lady, so I guess any of them winning would be good for me. Oh well.
(I did get Hríd, a second Naga and a second Legendary Seliph while trying to get Claude, tho, so not everything's that bad atm)
