I've known about this group for many, many years, and I'm kind of surprised to see that they still exist.

Basically, they reject the model of Earth as a sphere, globe, etc. There is also much debate as to whether the Earth is a square sheet, rectangular, or an unfolded dodecahedron, and so on. But the most accepted model amongst the flat earthers is that of the world as a disc.

In this model, the disc's center is at the North Pole, and the South Pole doesn't exist. Instead, Antarctica is an ice wall preventing the oceans from falling off the edge of the world.

Also, flat earthers generally believe that space travel is fake, photographs that show the earth as a sphere or having a curved horizon are fake, and that NASA is a conspiracy to keep people from knowing the truth that the earth is flat.

Basically a new guy who is open minded to the idea (or simply posing as open minded) basically used science and shit to prove them wrong. His question was simple, if the earth was flat we should have a telescope powerful enough to see the end of the earth, so why can't we?

The answer:
1. It is a matter of perspective and the human eye is limited in how far it can see. And also :The distance would be so great that the objects would be too small for the human eye to see. They also claim that you can not see because of the swells in the sea.

Question about telescope? Answer with naked eye!

The thing I love about groups like this is that they just shrug off any evidence to the contrary as fake. Why exactly is it so important to wrongly convince humanity that the Earth is spherical?

Also, how do they explain gravity and the fact that the naked eye can physically see the curvature of the Earth?

a quick look through some of the threads.

• Seems they are divided into "FE's and "RE's" (flat Earthers and round Earthers)
• Apparently, being able to see the curvature of the Earth is an optical illusion
• One Flat Earther seems to accuse others of derailing the thread when provided with an argument contrary to his opinion.

Less lulzy, more aggravating to me. There will always be a small group of people who will say that black is white, purely to be different.

The most difficult thing about browsing these forums is the understanding that nothing you say or do can help them understand. They are willfully ignorant because of their faith and as a result all of their understanding about the world around them will be warped to match this description.

Like, with people who are just stupid or crazy, you know there's a way to educate them or help them in some way. I think Chris could even become semi-normal if he went into a tolerant group home and away from Barb, but you can't talk sense into religious crazy.

Honestly I more annoyed at the REs over the FEs. Yeah the FEs are annoying and willingly ignorant, but the REs are fighting a losing battle. If someone is hellbent on the idea the earth is flat and that all evidence is faked, you will never change them. These REs need to log off and walk away.
