Flowers Of Evil and Aku No Hana -

  • Intermittent Denial of Service attack is causing downtime. Looks like a kiddie 5 min rental. Looking into some solutions.

Hey Guys! Just realized the Farms don't have an official thread for the greatest poem book of all time! Charles Baudilare's The Flowers Of Evil.

Truly the most notorious and cursed piece of literature of all time. It doesn't even need an introduction besides this one.

Please read and discuss. Heart and winner ratings for those of us that have embraced these hells. Pity for the virgin willing.

Enjoy.

At the request of @HeyYou this thread will also include discussion of the loose adaption and breathtaking manga of the same name. Aku No Hana

Just so I can spread the word, Zac Bertschy's glowing review of the Aku no Hana anime on Anime News Network is self fulfilling propaganda for his dejected incel delusional beta pitying ass. TL;DR, he's full of shit.

Other than that, have a nice day!

I know this makes me a huge faggot and it's embarrassing, but I feel a profound sense of disappointment when it comes to the ANN guys, mainly the trio of Zac Bertschy, Justin Sevakis and Mike Toole.

Again, I know this is faggy and gay, but there was a time I actually considered myself a fan of them, it's honestly kind of heartbreaking to see them turn out to be such assholes.

I was actually one of the few people that didn't rage over rotoscoping. At least it was something different in an industry that does a lot of the same thing over and over
The rotoscoping was the nail in the coffin for future seasons though which is disappointing. I was hoping it would at least go to the festival in the first season but the pacing was so overdrawn.
The manga gets a little stale towards the ending .

Apparently they made a live action drama a few months back. Looks like absolute crap.

This contains every translation of every poem. It really makes you appreciate the art of translation.

Aside from the weeb fighting in this thread, it is certainly one of the most influential books of poetry. That much is a fact. As far as the greatest, that's subjective.

I'm surprised that the anime didn't reference to the 1990 BUCK-TICK album of the same name. I've never read the manga for myself, because I found the story disturbing. A relationship formed by blackmail and obsession was too dark for my high school self.

I like rotoscoping ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The manga's art style improves a lot during the later story arcs and up to this day I still think that the story was creative and engrossing. The anime wasn't bad either. I have yet to watch the live action adaptations.

Some years ago I tried reading the poetry book in its original text but didn't get too far. I might try reading it again.

It's strange to think back and realize that my mood used to mimic the protagonist of the manga/anime (except for the perv nonsense lol).

That sort of apathetic view of life. The book has this feeling too...the concept of flaneur.

It's a unique concept to explore in art regardless of the form that this art takes.
