GET A FUCKING JOB
This.

Government assistance is meant to be a safety net if some shit happens to you either job wise or you end up unable to work due to being crippled or some shit.

It's NOT meant to be used like a fucking free ticket to sit your nigger ass on the nigger couch and to shit in your nigger toilet that the goverment also pays for since you live in section 8 housing, aka shelter for niggers.

Niggers steal shit anyway, why do we need to give them shit for free?

What exactly is wrong with food boxes?
Aside from the fact that the poor would no longer be able to spend money/trade as they please - which they have no right to do - what's wrong with providing staples?
I know this may hurt some progressive feefees, but it's not some kind of human right to eat whatever shit you like.
You eat to survive and make the best out of what you have. :story: This is why you're all fucking fat.

If I can't quietly and peacefully spend my welfare money on my heroin I'm probably going to stab you and take your money and spend it on my heroin.

Not everyone on welfare can work, which has kind of been my whole point here.

So our working poor and disabled people should get shittier food than most prisons and jails serve?

If you're concerned, then start a committee that deals with what food they are getting, how to best source more favorable foods, get in contact with associations that could provide fresh foods that would otherwise go to waste etc
Charities/Associations like this aren't hard to start and I bet you there's already a ton out there. The people who want access to this kind of thing will seek it out.

The others who don't, don't care about the quality of the food, they care about $$ in their hand, able to trade for whatever shit they want.

I'm not going to bother searching for US places that do this, but in Australia we have places that offer boxes of produce to people who need it, that would otherwise go to waste - they either offer the produce or they cook meals with it and provide the meals frozen.
Charities also will provide overstock produce to people - bread, canned foods, etc in a hamper. If you're concerned about getting fresh produce - there you go. It'd go well with whatever staples the Trumpbox offers.

But like I said - others who don't/won't access this don't want it, because they want drugs, booze or junkfood.

Or like expecting people to be able to live on the garbage in the trump boxes.

What exactly is wrong with the food in them? Do we even have a list of the items that come in them? Also the idea of people who are getting social safety-net nutrition acting like they should be given filet mignon's and a bottle of Chardonnay every evening is fucking ridiculous.

Fresh ground beef, and a gallon of fresh milk =/= filet mignon, and chardonnay.

Poor people who don't grow their own food (which is pretty much every poor American nowadays) don't like eating their fruits and vegetables. Which makes all this "THINK OF THE STARVING CHILDREN" the more hilarious because Michelle Obama went ~8 years ensuring school lunches were "healthier" and kids still went hungry because they didn't want to eat it or they couldn't get the calories to stay energized.
Speaking as someone who volunteers at a soup kitchen, the one I help at has a garden that the guests and volunteers will work on during the warmer months and during the fall we actually used many of these vegetables for some of the dishes that we'd serve them for dinner. Even then we can't guarantee that they'll eat them.

One time in particular, the Sister who ran the soup kitchen received a few bushels of apples as a donation and tried to make a bunch of apple dishes for the guests, but that didn't go over well taking into account that many of the guests had whole rows of teeth missing. So, we tend to stick with softer things that don't require too much chewing. Even with the stuff we grow, that doesn't always guarantee the stuff they eat is healthy.

Often, I have volunteered to help serve food and I can't remember the last time I didn't have at least one guest who would skip on the vegetables, ask for extra gravy, or in the case of small children, outright refuse anything we serve them. We tend to keep some uncrustables in the pantry for this reason. A few guests will even refuse the meat for one reason or another(can't chew, vegetarian, picky) We often serve them small salads, but I don't recall us offering them options without dressing. One time I was helping to cook mashed potatoes for a dinner that night and I was surprised by the amount of butter and milk I had to put in. On some level, I get that it was because it was a dish to feed anywhere between 50-100 guests, but on the other I just felt like I might be slowly giving them a heart attack. It's usually better when my mom volunteers, since she favors the philosophy of "don't feed them anything I wouldn't feed my family or I wouldn't eat myself"

Fresh ground beef, and a gallon of fresh tard cum =/= filet mignon, and chardonnay.

Which on the EBT system fresh ground beef, and a gallon of milk translates into junk food and soda. These are people bitching that they can't just go out and buy candy bars, pizza, and other assorted shit-tier luxury food (if not trading EBT goods for shit like various drugs, cigarettes or booze) as much as they could before.

This still doesn't help the people who legitimately need EBT. The elderly, the disabled, and children who's parents have benefits. Are they supposed to suffer through a mere subsistence life style, because of conditions they can't help or improve on? Fuck them right?

Whilst I don't agree with the concept of these Trump food boxes, I also don't agree with letting people do whatever they like, when others who don't get assistance, have to make do.

You don't want them to have to eat vegetables or source through charities for higher quality food. So that's out. If you just leave it as is, then it's just as damaging because people aren't making good choices.
So what do you propose? Because people are abusing the system. They've also got higher rates of obesity, diabetes and other health issues in this group of people.

I mean really, I don't care, because the options are out there for improving the situation, but for "reasons" people don't want to improve their situations.

I have many issues with this, but one of them is that it would almost certainly end up costing more.

As it is right now, while there's lots of costs associated with administering EBT, none of it involves the actual food. Government gives you a card and it's no longer their problem. With this, government has to dole out the food. Where are they going to get it from? You know all the senators from agricultural states are going to demand that their state's dairy or potatoes or whatever be used. You know there will be lobbyists upon lobbyists. You know the federal government isn't going to have locally sourced food boxes and is going to have three or four warehouses, requiring either a massive fleet of trucks or paying USPS a ton of money. And none of the current paperwork costs would go away.

Why not just do what they do with WIC, where you can only buy healthy food?
