Also the government has been working on getting rid of recipients that can work but don't because they're lazy as shit(at least in my state that is). They've set up programs to help them get a job and if they don't submit a report every week on what they applied for and what interviews they went to they get kicked off. Not sure how effective it is but it is something. Other states probably have something like it too. Also I don't think many people in this thread are aware of how much it would cost to ship food boxes everywhere. It would probably be over 1 billion dollars.

I'd have to read more into this but based on the main post it looks like they'll be doing it similarly to food pantries where they select the food for you. If this is what they're doing I approve, tbh. Especially if it's done to give you more nutritious things that people SHOULD be spending their food stamps on.

I never said luxury food items. As a matter of fact I said if the boxes contained fresh produce, meat, and dairy I'm fine with it. I would even be fine with generic products. Fuck I eat generic products myself. Asking people to live on powdered milk and canned meat in a first world country is bullshit.

This is the way it is in my state too and in my opinion it is the better solution. That being said I'm out. When it was civil discussion and debate it was fun. When I get called out for championing the elderly, disabled, and children it becomes ridiculous. It would at least lessen the chance of poor people eating food that's bad for you because they have less money. This is an argument I've seen people say about the problems with being poor. I've had to use food pantries before and at least with food pantries you get fruit, grains, bread and vegetables and other things that's recommended with the food groups. If the government doesn't fuck it up, I can see it being better than people just spending their SNAP cards on whatever they want.

And this decline has only continued, with the 3.5% rate of fraud in 2012 reducing to less than 1.5% today.

I wouldn't call 1.5% the vast, vast majority.

Even if the US federal government didn't fuck it up (which they would, they fuck up pretty much everything they touch), the huge amount of funding and employees required to harvest, process, pack, ship, store, and accurately deliver all those Trumptard food boxes to the millions and millions of people in the US who are on food stamps would cost the government far, FAR more (in both the short and the long term) than just giving out the EBT cards as they are now.

Also, what happens if we set up this system, and then the federal government goes through one of its now-annually scheduled shutdowns? Millions of Americans just don't get food that month?

It's essential things like m.ilk, beans, cookies for little children, meat in cans and rice. My aunt receives and uses these. They don't taste that great but in such situations you're just glad to have food in your plate
