Foods you like but usually do not have the cash for? - Champagne taste on PBR budget thread.

There is an upscale sashimi bar in town that I have been to once. It was pricey, but it was by far the best sashimi I ever enjoyed. I will not be going back anytime soon since I do not want to eat ramen the rest of the month.

What rare pricey treats would you be enjoying if you ever became considerably higher income people?

At home, I don't really have expensive taste but I definitely eat more beef than I should.

I love having a dumb-as-shit cocktail when I go out to dinner. If I'm at a Thai restaurant and there's a mango mojito with pop rocks around the rim or some shit, I go for that, because I'm never going to make something like that for myself.

ETA: If I had a significantly higher income, I'd like to buy half a cow, a pig, and some chickens every other year, or some of the salmon and walleye you can mail order from Indian tribes. It's becoming more obvious to me that the quality of food I'm used to as someone who picks the cheapest version off the shelves really sucks.

Alcohol. I like Jamison and my IPAs and stouts, but there's something about the top notch stuff in the world that I want to shell out the cash for and keep for the best of times. I'm talking about Krug, Pappy Van Winkle's Family Reserve, and Japanese Imperial Household Brewery sake. At best, all of these cost about hundreds to a few thousands of dollars a bottle, especially Pappy Van Winkle's.

I eat a lot of game and wild caught fish myself but if I could get a steady enough supply I wouldn't eat anything else, can highly recommend to anyone looking for a treat. Simply doesn't compare to even high quality beef.

Don't be afraid of the organs either, deer liver in particular is like a pate if prepared properly. As an added bonus if you're lucky you can get it for the same price as any regular old slab of feedlot beef, a great option for those on a budget.

Not particularly priced out of my range in the traditional sense, its moreso that any place I see that has Dippin Dots vendors I already spent too much money getting into to justify an expensive snack, or its one of those cryptid ones that shows up outside an entertainment venue where you wouldn't have enough cash on hand to buy more than the smallest cup.

I think some sams clubs or stores sells them in 4-8 packs? It's been a while since i've seen them however. I think they came in banana split, cookies and cream, and chocolate?

This isn't food, but my favorite beer is Chimay Blue. It's decently high ABV, but I usually only drink it when I'm out because that shit costs like $25 for a 4-pack at Total Wine.
Did not expect to see one of my favorite beers mentioned here. In Europe it is comparatively "cheap" (1.89€ for a 12 oz bottle) - still far more expensive than a nice basic lager (1€ for 18 oz) but then again, Chimay has a wonderful way of getting you drunk quickly (and feeling full in general) when it really shouldn't.

I don't shell out enough money for proper fresh vegetables to really make a kickass salad, even though I really fucking love a good salad - but for a cucumber, some paprikas, iceberg lettuce and cherry tomatoes I can get....like a dozen cans of beans that will keep me fed for a while (and capable of warding off unwanted company).

Duck Mousse Pâté and VSOP Armagnac. There's French expats in my city who make authentic French Pâté with the texture of a fine soft mousse. Unfortunately, they come in small jars and are also priced the same as they are in France ($11).

As for Armagnac, I didn't expect the local liquor stores to sell such an elusive variety of brandy, but to my surprise they actually do. It's a very versatile drink, but I usually pair it with the aforementioned Pâté and other foods. Once again, unfortunately, import taxes for alcohol in my country can cost as much as the drink itself, and Armagnac is no exception. Ergo, what should be costing $40 costs $70-$80 instead. It's utterly ridiculous!
