For those that go to church: have you heard a sermon on the rapture within the last year or so? - This especially applies to catholics because reasons.

Whether you are catholic or not, is the pope full of crap and someone to be worried about?

Just went through one of my old files from the end of 2017 that I didn't watch until now, a sermon by one of two pastors I actually trust. I have a problem with a lot of Christians because people say a lot of things, and will do different things.

Recently it's been bothering me, this pope. He's been doing a lot of stuff that scripturally is just plain wrong. However if he is supposed to be all in-tuned with the Lord and whatnot, has there been a full court press in the catholic church and other denominations lately about the rapture? What kind of teaching is prevalent nowadays? I ask this because things seem off, more than normal. I can't go into it just yet, but I'm just wondering.

What kind of sermons about the rapture and getting your life / act right because of the possibility of the rapture have Kiwi religious folk been exposed to lately?

I used to go to a Baptist church and the pastor there would preach about it pretty much every week to the Wednesday night service (which was all elderly people, I was the only young person who would go).

He was less interested in the Rapture itself, though, and more in the Antichrist and tribulations. Is one of those who thinks it will happen in his lifetime and will be tied in with Russia/Israel nonsense.

Why would a Church Sermon reference Bioshock?

We don't call the Great and Terrible Day the rapture in my church, but we talk about the last days and the turmoil that's happening and is to come a lot since it's referenced often in scripture and how important it is to be diligent in keeping the commandants, to be prayerful, steadfast, and watch for the Second Coming. Just live life, be good to people, and it'll happen before you know it, basically is how I was taught.

I don't know how it's taught elsewhere and if it's more than just doomsday talk or if that's all that gets talked about.

I think it is generational. As a kid, I used to hear about rapture all the time in different churches, recently, say the last decade it seems to be mentioned less frequently. Perhaps this is in line with a general change of how the gospel is preached, more of a 'help your life' view rather than 'fear of hell' it seems.

No, my pastor usually has sermons about the personal experiences of people with God, and different Bible passages and how those passages can apply to the lives of the people there. There are some about the state of the world today, and how we as Christians should live in those times. I haven't heard about the Rapture in my church for awhile.

I don't see what the big deal is. There have been good popes and bad popes (and often a mix of the two) for 1700 years. Start worrying when he starts selling indulgences to ANTIFA.

Went to Easter Mass because my girlfriend is catholic. The priest rambled through the story of the Crucifixion like he had done a million times over. They played a few songs in between. Nothing about the end of days, sorry.
