I think you guys are right. He's probably not a pedophile, although he uses Gracie as a way of gaining trust. He doesn't realize that Kai isn't a normal mother and will protect her tugboat far more fiercely than she ever will her child.

I think he's after her tugboat, but if he thinks Kai's actually going to relinquish it to him, he's really stupid. She's been spending it on herself for years and has never even contributed any of it to help her family, nor has she contributed any of it for the care and support of her daughter. Seven years and Kai hasn't contributed anything, she's certainly not going to contribute anything to PJ’s household. People are here to serve and provide for Kai. It looks like PJ has the same philosophy.

The only time she's been forced to contribute to her parents household was a couple of years following the divorce, it was speculated that Lisa was taking a share of it to pay off the $5000 divorce, because Kai's hauls were noticeably smaller, and instead of hauling a mass amount of junk every week, all month long, she did one small haul, once a month. Coincidentally, that was around the time she started taking out credit cards. Picture that: she was that angry that her mother had the nerve to take apart of her money to pay for her divorce, she took out credit cards so that she could haul crap like she has always done. Nevermind supporting Gracie, nah, it's all about satisfying Kai's greed, that's her money, Gracie can get her own.

If this is not the system they are using, they're shooting themselves in foot.

Kai has at least three credit cards open at various stores. This is why her credit is in the shitter.
I highly doubt Guac's eligible for a tugboat right now.

Since she gets food stamps, I think they get deducted from her SSI, so let's say that she gets $200+/- in food stamps, and the standard SSI is $794, she's probably getting $594+/-. I agree, I don't think there's any in-kind support being deducted (and Lisa has probably figured out a way to get TANF, since she's Gracie's caregiver), $594 is still a hell of a lot more liquid money than the scuzzy bum has to throw around. No, food stamps aren't deducted if someone has SSI. If the food stamps are just for Kai, it'd be around $200 for a single person. IDK if she'd add Gracie, which would increase the total. There are currently special pandemic increases in how much someone can get in SNAP as well, although they vary by state.

I highly doubt this is a concern, but Kai's max allowance of what money she could have in checking and savings would be reduced if she got married. I'm talking from $2000 max to $1500 max. There are ways around it (ex ABLE accounts) but I don't know if Maryland offers that yet and it'd mean even fewer pallids to hoard for Kai. Why save when you can just blow it all on Colourpop?

food stamps don’t get deducted. She is just getting 1/3rd docked for living with Lisa unless when PW retired, she switched over to disabled adult child benefits.

in kind support deduction is usually standard. It means you live with someone else who is paying for rent or mortgage etc and you are not paying your fair share. Fair share is splitting the bills evenly between how many adults live in the same place.

so two adults = fair share is 50 percent

four adults = fair share is 25 percent

The way around this would be if MW sent the ssa a notarized letter stating Kai pays rent equal to whatever the market value of the room is.

I think she had three. Of which, she might still have one that she hasn't run up and failed to pay, but two of the ones that she'd had, got charged off and the collection agencies who bought them, sued her. Those debts either got dismissed or else her parents settled them. They were presumably bad/no credit/low limit/high interest cards since when she took them out, she didn't have established credit.
