Fox hunting with dogs has been banned in the UK since 2004 when Tony Blair made a huge song and dance about it as a sop to the left and the animal rights brigade and to deflect attention from the fact that going into Iraq was a huge footbullet and from his government's persistent erosion of civil liberties. It's an easy target because it involves rich rural folk chasing after cuddly little foxy-woxies and murdering them with big dogs - so it has animals, class warfare, and similar.

Anyhow, today it came out that Theresa May, if she wins the election, plans to bring it back. The autistic screeching from virtue signallers and armchair class warriors has already begun:

I found these just from a cursory click of the trending topic on Facebook. I'm sure there's more to be dug up:

After doing just a cursory google search the UK fox population doesn't really seem to be endangered or unusually low. In fact, some results suggest that it might actually be a bit high. Therefore the outrage here doesn't really seem to have any real environmental justification and is founded instead on peoples emotions regarding cute fluffy animals.

Well quite. That, and because fox hunting is predominantly the preserve of the landed gentry.

Anyhow. Here's some more salt for ya. Matthew Pennycook I believe is the Labour candidate for Greenwich. The last Labour government also took us to a pointless war in Iraq.

Animal Rights activists tend to be more vicious than the animals they are protecting.

This'll end swell.

Ah, the SHAC 7.

Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty was a bunch of bunny huggers who, inter alia, called in death threats, rape threats, hoax bomb calls, and similar on people who worked for Huntingdon Life Sciences, where medical research on poor suffering little bunnies was carried out. This included threatening to have their children raped to death and digging up their dead relatives for shiggles. Anyhow. A bunch of these terrorists were sent down. The rest of them reeeeee'd the house down about how it was a political prosecution and how THEY were persecuting them.

No, it's because you threatened to bomb people who were in a line of work you don't agree with you x16 cuntwits.

wait, she killed badgers?

I may be wrong but I thought the UK was just the dark ages with some welfare programs tossed in the mix.

The badger cull in England merits reading about, especially the parts where the government stopped its own departmental investigations into its effectiveness against spreading bovine TB because, ear, they showed that the cull actually disperses badgers more widely. There is huge controversy over whether badgers, rather than intensive farming practices, are to blame for the continued rate of bovine TB infection in the first place. But shooting badgers is popular with the NFU, and the NFU votes Tory.

Oh, I have a bunch of these. This one is just germane to the thread. this one came out in the early 2000s iirc

Yeah. Just to clarify I meant that I find it hilarious that a real-life human being could be such a caricature. He actually believes that foxes, after running for their lives and just about escaping, sit back and think 'well that was jolly good fun and I got a bit of exercise as well!'.

This kind of person is why the British upper-classes are so easy to satirise.

Even despite this, down here in the Wild West Country a lot of them shoot badgers anyhow, then fling the corpses onto the road so it looks like they've been run over. Nobody's generally very arsed to autopsy a badger, so...
