Don't be so negative. I bought Disco Elysium on the EGS website last year and RE8 back in May on Steam, they both seem to work the same to me. And why would they be the ones to make the unified launcher? All they want is to compete on price and fees so I don't think they care that much about who ends up making it. They integrated EGS into GOG Galaxy recently and while adding Itch.io to EGS was a token gesture to be used in the Apple trial it's at least a step into the right direction.

Less storefronts mean less choices, which is ultimately bad for you; the consumer. Valve was only forced to even offer refunds on games after MANY years, and even then their system for it still sucks. Now, if Steam was the only game in town and Valve had 100% market share, do you think this would be a better or worse result for the consumer as a whole, just because you're too fucking dumb or lazy to have multiple launchers?

Because CDNs like Steam, uPlay, EGS, etc make giant corporations money and make consumers beholden to their platforms.

Essentially I agree with you, I truly do, but there really isn't any way to change it now. I miss just being able to pop in a CD-Rom and have the exe right there.
