It has a rubbery texture. Thick but a bit fragile. Smells like anise. There are nine of them and they sprung up in a few days time. They are going to be removed soon. They actually came up last summer as well. And that was the first time they have ever been seen in the yard.
The shrooms are a bit lighter in color than the pics imply. Two of them are huge. They only grow in that spot. No idea why. They are ground mushrooms and weren't hard to dig up last summer. I don't know if spores were left in the ground or spores are coming from somewhere else. I don't see these around anywhere but this yard and I have never seen them before anywhere. I am in Philly. I don't even know if these things are native or what.
