Just a reminder to everyone that MrEnter implied that interesting characters are outside of the vision he has for his show as someone pointed out in Growing Around general."empathetic, relatable characters."
Oh boy, I've always wanted to be a blank slate!![]()
He was saying that about a suggestion on rewriting Timmy's personality, not the "interesting characters" bit.Just a reminder to everyone that MrEnter implied that interesting characters are outside of the vision he has for his show as someone pointed out in Growing Around general.

fixed itHe was saying that about a suggestion on rewriting Timmy's lack of a personality.
It seemed more to do with giving the characters flaws as a whole rather than just Timmy's personality. He was saying that about a suggestion on rewriting Timmy's personality, not the "interesting characters" bit.
That wasn't the least bit funny.
But right now they don't have any (except Sally, but she is another problem entirely), making Timmy power hungry for example would at least be a start. If they have too many flaws or are too flawed, they'd be too unlikable as he said, so I can see why he's worried.
Reading it now.
Wouldn't you want the characters to be a lot more nuanced than they are now though? The issue is that these characters are way too in the box and there isn't that much that makes them stand out in my opinion. If they have too many flaws or are too flawed, they'd be too unlikable as he said, so I can see why he's worried.

I see what you're saying now. He doesn't have to take those other suggestions there, but I still wanna see him expand their personalities much more so they feel like real characters rather than something overly mechanical or unnatural. The characters could stand to be a bit more nuanced, but their current characters are better than the characters he's worried about turning them into.
I'd love to see these characters evolve from "Mabel Rip-off", "Mr. Enter self-insert" and two blank slates. But there's a thin line you shouldn't cross when doing it. The problem is when exactly do you reach it, and I get the feeling that if Enter does give them more traits. We're simply going to dislike them more than we do already.Wouldn't you want the characters to be a lot more nuanced than they are now though?
