Last I checked, any minors claimed need to be in your care for a certain amount of time plus I'm more than confident in guessing that Deb has already claimed for them. Something I actually hadn't thought of is whether or not Deb & Gabe previously filed taxes jointly or not. Gabe still had some income which, hopefully if he was smart, he still reported to the IRS but it was probably such a small amount, I wonder if he could've also qualified as a dependent.

Dunno though. That's just my speculation. I'm not really all that informed on the matter as far as COVID stim checks go since I haven't claimed any of them so far out of personal guilt. I'm well off enough that I feel like if I took it, I'd be taking food out of someone else's mouth(s) and that doesn't sit well with me.

My initial hope that Gabe would just wise up and completely sign over his parental rights seems to be at conflict with the limited info we have as of now. If Deb really is seeing someone else like she claimed she was a while ago and that person has full intentions of adopting the boys, Gabe would have more than enough incentive to terminate his rights. This would mean he'd potentially no longer on the hook for Child Support - though that would be at the judge's discretion.

That's a bit of a huge if though and would rely on the judge making that strong of a decision in his favor, essentially. The other alternative, which seems to be the plan he's stuck to, is to leech off Daddy Dearest and hope that Deb buckles through Attrition. Mind you, because of Gabe, her credit is in the shitter. She worked for 3 years to bring it back up only to have it immediately ruined due to his failure to pay the mortgage. If that house does indeed go into foreclosure, I can tell you straight up that will fuck both of their credits for at least a decade.
