Austin Walker is one of the most preachy insufferable people orbiting games coverage. I thought him and Patrick Klepick quarantining themselves on Waypoint was a net positive for everyone. It was fun while it lasted.

If you think Waypoint is "aids and HIV" guess who is the managing Director over there (it's Austin Walker).
He's famous for working at GB for roughly a single year before being given a literal "Editor in Chief" title over at Vice/Waypoint for what can only be viewed as a move to get "a black video game guy". He has tons and tons of "woke" articles and every cancerous article that Waypoint puts out has his stamp of approval on it.

Austin was okay as long as the invisible guy with a gun had it pointed at his face, keeping him on topic. I liked the playthroughs for that FMV game I can't remember the name of and Until Dawn he was a part of. If he deviated the tiniest bit from video games he became intolerable fast. I blame him for giving me a bad initial taste for GBE, and never went back even though Dan joined later on.
I agree, I actually liked Austin when it was a quick look, he seemed totally fine.
Honestly GB really took a downward turn when Drew left. Drew was a great foil for Dan and I loved all of their content together. He also liked to do things besides video games and seemed like an all around chill dude. I wish his documentary series got more traction because he was clearly passionate about it.
Seeing what GB turned into post Drew makes me really sad. They influenced my love for the Persona series, and a lot of my game purchasing decisions up until that point. It is really ironic because I remember them absolutely shitting on "influencers" years ago and now they are doing that exact same thing.

And don't forget about how the very intro of the show describes how Zeon helped kill half of all people alive by shooting nukes everywhere and gassing colonies (this was before the colony drop even), and it's described and shown repeatedly that Zeon gassed and nuked countless space colonies to deal with Spacenoids who opposed them. This is either elaborate shitposting or the result of a hardcore tankie watching Gundam. Wonder what his thoughts are on Stalin and Mao?
