That reminds me of the Australian gaming magazine that printed a picture of Misty/Kasumi from Pokemon drawn by a reader. The picture was labelled by the artist as "Misty Doing Something Useful"
"Doing Something Useful" apparently means taking off your top, holding it in the air and going bare-breasted.
I'm not entirely sure what they were thinking.

(Then again, there's the "Kasumi's Tears" (カスミのなみだ) official pokemon card which depicts Misty topless and in profile. So who knows, really.)

Ghostbusters or Dragons Dogma 2? This was found in a capcom leak.

dragdog 2 is indev, that is known. ghostbusters doesn't seem like it, the lightning is "old-aged" as in medieval fantasy, i think it's dragdog, loved the 1st game and hope the 2nd one is the same as the 1st but better.

pcgamer polygoning again.

Never having played Rainbow Six Siege, I'd like to know how many of its characters have any indication of sexual preference. Randomly picking out several character bios on the official website, it appears to me that the template is the mention the character's childhood in the first couple of sentences and then just focus on the martial style and accomplishments.

Thatcher ("fooking laser sights") and Thermite ("big fucking hole") have been such an iconic duo since day one that it's been a long-running meme that they're butt buddies. It was actually my expectation that they'd get retconned Overwatch-style for a faggot month celebration any year now. Other than that, I dunno, Ela (the aquamarine-haired one with daddy issues) always reeked of political lesbianism to me, but that was probably a side effect of that being the era when they started writing massive character bios, and the Polish bitches had so much family drama shit going on that combined with her being utterly fucking broken on release to get my train of thought somewhere along the lines of "and she's probably also a fucking lesbian, just so that she can be obnoxious about that, too".

EDIT: Also, even if Gridlock isn't a troon, I'm still secondhand embarrassed on behalf of the Australian military that Ubisoft thought that hunk of lard would be a good representation of the pinnacle of their soldiers.

A disappointing, but a change of pace-news story:

Chain managed by Space Invaders publisher pulls plug on game center.

The downtown Tokyo cityscape is constantly changing. As one of the most densely populated places on the planet there’s always a new businesses coming in or new building going up, and the lack of space means that first and old one has to go out.

Recently, a lot of the businesses saying goodbye are video game arcades, and Japan’s capital is about to lose yet another with the announced closing of Taito Station’s Nishi Shinjuku branch.

Part of the arcade chain managed by Space Invaders publisher Taito, Taito Station Nishi Shinjuku is a short walk from the west exit of Shinjuku Station, Tokyo’s busiest rail hub. Like most urban arcades in Japan it’s a multi-floor digital entertainment palace, with UFO catchers/crane games on the first two floors, driving and music games on the third, standard cabinet games on the fourth, and sticker picture booths in the basement. While it’s not the biggest arcade in Tokyo, it’s got a very convenient location, close to electronics superstore Yodobashi Camera and several restaurants, and not too far from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building and its amazing observatories, making it an easy stop for a quick game or two during shopping, dining, or sightseeing excursions.

Alas, it’s all coming to an end on March 21. “Thank you for your continued patronage,”says Taito Station Nishi Shinjuku in its announcement tweet. “On March 21, Taito Station Nishi Shinjuku will be permanently closing. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has visited us over our time in operation.”

No specific reason has been giving for the closing. The obvious explanation, though, would be the extended gradual decline in arcade popularity as home consoles and PCs improve in performance and online connectivity combined with the negative effects on business from the coronavirus pandemic.

Reactions from saddened fans online have included:

“What?! It’s like a part of my youth is disappearing.”
“I used to meet up here with friends I made online. Taito Nishi Shinjuku, thank you for everything!”
“I went there all the time to play Star Horse in my student days.”
“Oh man, this makes me so sad. I guess even the big companies [like Taito] are hurting during the pandemic.”

Thankfully, Taito Station still has two other branches in the Shinjuku district, but it’s telling that many of the comments reference past nostalgia instead of recent visits. With its closure, Taito Station Nishi Shinjuku will follow Sega Akihabara Building 2, Silk Hat Ikebukuro, and Warehouse Kawasaki on the list of dearly departed arcades, and it’s a reminder that while reminiscing about the past is all fine and good, arcades also need people actively coming in and playing games in order to survive.

Man Japan just can't catch a break in it's declining relevance huh?
The suicide rates look like Gamestop's stock price the month before.

how does corona affecting a japanese retail location mostly frequented by japenese has anything to do with relevance?
It's the same shit happening in the west, corna has decimated malls, theatres and other public locations. They go out of business and then the real-estate get immediately bought up by conglomerates to turn into other spaces or get torn down. Once the arcades are gone, they're not building new ones.

It's pretty sad, arcades were a big part of the charm of visiting Japan for me a couple of years back. Especially the ones that had older machines still. It was great seeing a bunch of salarymen, probably on their lunch break, having a Street Fighter II showdown with some 12 year olds.

Not to get too sidetracked but honestly think a lot of brick and mortar businesses going away is a disaster. We really will all end up locked up in cuck pods getting our bug burgers delivered by Amazon because there is nothing else to do.

After how much bots have destroyed online retail for coveted or in demand items, it's really soured me on the whole thing because it doesn't take much to upset the apple cart. You're going to probably wind up with needing a bot service just to routinely buy shit which is an added cost for the consumer because nobody is interested in implementing protections against bot hordes.

You think that's bad? They're selling the damned consoles in Walmarts in Costa Rica for 800 above MSRP. And that's in US dollars.

That would seem to be a clear example of an underpriced product if it keeps selling out no matter how much they make.
