Sweet Home (NES): Often reffered to as the first survival horror Sweet home is a horror RPG where a paranormal team goes to investigate a creepy mansion and gets trapped inside, each character has special abilities necessary to progress, death is permanent and the game will never stop you from playing even if you hit a roadblock that requires a dead character's special ability to progress, it's a pretty brutal game but in my opinion is the best RPG of that time period.
An attempt to remake this in 3D is what led to the creation of Resident Evil.

Blast Corps, a Rare N64 title about a demolition team needing to use a range of destructive vehicles to clear the path for an out-of-control automated trailer hauling leaking nuclear warheads to a safe disposal site.

Level One has you bulldozing some sleepy mining town into rubble to this tune:

And it only gets more fun from there. Not all the vehicles had the best control. Fuck the dump truck that you had to kick the ass out of to get it to be worth a damn, but dive-bombing skyscrapers with a jetpack-equipped power suit made it all worth it.

I remember this one Mr Men and Little Miss point-and-click puzzle game for PC where you'd solve the townsfolks' problems, like a square tire on a car. Can't remember the name of it for the life of me, or if it ever even existed in the first place. I do remember enjoying it, though.

Evil Twin: Cyprien's Chronicles. It's American Mcgee's Alice inpired ps2 platformer with a protagonist that looks like Chucky and a story that is best described as "Rule of Rose for boys". Has some nice surreal imagery and atmosphere and an amazing OST if you can get past the clunky controls and camera. It was only released in Europe and the planned sequel was cancelled, sadly.

Less obscure example is Shadows of the Damned. I'm surprised it doesn't have larger cult following, it's like RE4/DMC but written by Tarantino. Way more interesting than Mikami's other late projects...
It sounded completely unfamiliar until I googled it and saw the cover. I haven't played the game but I still remember the cover.

That was when Ubisoft still put some of their strong french influences into their games. :(

@Overcast - Metal Arms was great, looked great and came out of nowhere. It probably got hurt from no marketing and it looking like a something in the Ratchet and Clank style, but it was not.

Haven't played that in a while. Good pick.

Cuban Missile Crisis. One of the only RTS game that I've found that lets you pause and queue up moves for your units in advance. You can also slow or speed the game up by -10 or +10 respectively.
Takes place after the cold-war went hot- and after all the carnage, managing your ammo, fuel, and spare parts as well as deciding what units are worth buying adds a layer of depth to it.
You'll spend most of your time deciding what your next move should be on the tactical map, scouting with infantry and slowly taking the enemy out EFFICIENTLY as you advance.

The only downside is that the AI (both for your units and the enemy units) is pretty dumb, and you lack a really important order that you would get in Men of War or Company of Heroes- reverse vehicle; to keep your armor facing front on your vehicles.

BUT the pause feature fixes pretty much any problems the game has, as you can pause and draw a series of orders behind your tank that will cause it to act as if it were given a reverse order.

Sounds dumb, but the tactical depth is solid, and the pause feature makes the game playable even today.

And it's 5-6 bucks on steam. https://store.steampowered.com/app/356270/Cuban_Missile_Crisis/

EDIT: Don't let this deter you- a very fun game- but imagine having to order your units over a bridge one by one, because otherwise they will all try to go at once and get stuck. Thats how bad the pathfinding is sometimes.
You should check out Supreme Commander if you don't already know it. I think you'd love it.

It's a really old game but I still occasionally toss it into my dusty old PS2 and play this PS1-gen classic. It's a game though that I don't know a single other person besides my cousin (who introduced me to it) that plays it or had ever heard of it, even back in the old days. Blasto had some good moments to it.

I had that game growing up.

The guy who voiced Blasto, Phil Hartman was murdered by his wife if I recall correctly.

I played the hell out of Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks when it came out and though I think it did OK sales wise when it came out it has sadly been mostly forgotten. A shame because it is the best MK spin off game to ever come out and arguably the best MK game period.

Really great action/adventure game set in the MK universe, if you enoyed someting like God of War give it a shot. It got some middling reviews back in the day which at the time I though was nonsense, I had way more fun playing this than God of War or any other similar game from that era. One review from a UK magazine I still remember - the guy gave the game a ridiculous score of like 3/10 and one of the reasons he gave is that the game was broken because he found a way to cheese one of the bosses. Game journalists were just as useless then as they are now.

C-12: Final Resistance on the PS1.

It's a 3rd person shooter where aliens invaded Earth & had basically won except for scattered resistance. You started off only fighting cyborgs they made out of captured Humans & there was a big build up until you finally fought a proper alien. About halfway through they capture you & turn you into a cyborg but for some reason you keep your free will & you can now use all the powerful alien tech. Now I think about it Quake 4 stole that plot device.

It's also set in the UK & has British voice actors, which I liked as a kid growing up in England.

I wouldn't go so far to say I love it, but I do think it's extremely underrated.

Sacrifice. It was an early 2000s RTS where you controlled a wizard who allies himself with one of five gods (your allegiance determines your creatures and spells) as they all plot and scheme against each other. It had very interesting mechanics and took a few risks in deviating from the standard Warcraft/Age of Empires styled RTS games. It has it's share of flaws, but I have a soft spot for it. Played a lot of it in my high school days.

More traditional RTS series that doesn't get talked about much that I also enjoy is the Warlords Battlecry series.

Haven't seen it mentioned in this thread ---- Skies of Arcadia, the game my avatar and name are from. One of the best JRPGs ever made, bar none. @AngeloTheWizard was doing a Let's Sperg of it on here a few months back, what happened to it?

REMAKE IT ALREADY, SEGA, YOU COWARDS!

Some irl shit happened and I ended up kinda dropping it. I do love that game myself, I love RPGs in general, and I wouldnt have known about it if my buddy didnt basically force me to play it.

I do Twitch streaming mostly these days, it's a bit more pick up and play than trying to do a full Let's Sperg.
