Yeah, there have been examples of that, and now that we have better imaging equipment there's been examinations of live brains, which do show that FTMs have brains more similar to males, and MTFs have brains more similar to females, there's not a great deal of research on this yet, but what has been done is all showing similar things.

There's also the David Reimer case, which was the first real proof we had of brain sex. Thankfully that experiment's never been repeated though.

The irony of the Reimer case was that John Money was trying to get the exact opposite results (that someone raised as female would then be female and that brain sex was entirely socialized). Money also claimed his hypothesis was proven with Reimer and wrote something claiming that, in spite of the evidence to the contrary.

There's this thing I kept seeing on tumblr before I left where people posted selfies and then put their pronouns in the description.

Shit like a picture of a generic tomboy followed by "it/its pronouns only ^^" etc. Or someone obviously a cis girl, dressed femininely, "they pronouns pls". You get the idea.

So yes. OMG RESPECT MAI PRONOUNS is a community thing on tumblr.

I came across this post on tumblr, and I found it interesting and rather informative. Take it as you will.

I went to my GIP (gender identity physician) yesterday for a check-up and had a good old chat about how things were getting along, how my transition was going, etc.

Before I left to go home, I offhandedly mentioned to her that I’d been called transphobic on multiple occasions and she just gave me this awestruck look as if to say, “What, you? Transphobic? Why?”

When I elaborated that it’s because I had the complete and utter gall to say that you need dysphoria to be trans, she then proceeded to tell that she once misdiagnosed someone who claimed to not be their birth gender (she didn’t say “ claimed to have gender dysphoria”). She told me of how they bullshitted their way through the assessments and questionnaires and everything related to the process, complaining that they weren’t conforming to gender roles thus didn’t want to be seen as their birth gender. (She also mentioned that the kid said to her that they were “an agender boy” a couple times.)

My GIP diagnosed them with gender dysphoria.

Later, the kid gets on blockers. Everything is going smoothly, right up until they get HRT. When the kid’s body began to change and they experienced the physical changes, the kid developed real gender dysphoria and fell into a depression, suicidal and wishing to go back to how things were before before the physical changes occurred. Needless to say, the kid was cis and was pretending to have gender dysphoria so that they could pin a label to themselves to seem “trendy” or “hip”.

Luckily the kid was early enough into the process that the changes weren’t too drastic - some effects weren’t completely reversible but their body didn’t actually change too much - and they went on with their life. They were essentially traumatised from the experience of having dysphoria for a while.

Though my GIP was apologised to by this kid’s parents on behalf of their attention-seeking child, it doesn’t change the fact that she feels very guilty about nearly ruining someone’s life by misdiagnosing them.

When someone says that transtrenders don’t affect me, I’m going to remember this fucking story. My GIP could’ve lost her job because of this; could’ve been sued for this; could’ve had her life completely fucked up for this. And why? Because some attention seeking child chose to identify as trans and lie about it continuously when they weren’t, and they almost paid the permanent price for it.

Now my GIP is more cautious than ever about giving the final say in a gender dysphoria diagnosis unless the discomfort of the person is glaringly obvious to her because she doesn’t want to go through all of that again. That person is the reason that I had to go through more assessments than I would’ve had to before this incident. That person caused me months of delay on my diagnosis and thus stopped me from getting on my blockers sooner. I could’ve been on actual hormones by now, but because of all of the delay caused by someone who chose to identify as trans, I’m not.

Claiming to be trans when you’re not hurts real trans people. Claiming to not be your birth gender when you actually are hurts GIPs and real trans people.

Really gives you insight on how transtrenders not only hurt trans individuals, but others as well.

They are liars who don't get how dysphoria works. It's a mismatch between the brain sex and the body sex. If I (a cis woman) was transitioned into a man, I would begin to experience partial or complete dysphoria, any amount would be a nightmare. Tumblrtards don't know what they are asking.

No, though it's been known to happen, especially if the selfie gets thousands of notes. Cause thirsty strangers are surprisingly likely to crop up with gendered compliments like "WHAT A HOT BOY" "omg she's so cute" etc., talking in the third person like they don't realize OP's a living person who can see what they're saying.

So idk, to an extent I can sympathize with the impulse to share one's pronouns this way. Cause like, there's a decent amount of trans people on Tumblr who've been out for years and gotten hormones and surgeries but still have strangers calling them their assigned gender, which really has gotta kill their spirit.

However, pronoun-captions quickly grow annoying if one makes no attempts to present as their desired gender, and instead is almost daring to get misgendered. (e.g. I know a pre-T trans "boy" who only posts selfies wearing dresses with dark lipstick but puts "he/him" in every selfie caption like... I know gender identity isn't the same as gender expression, but come on, make an effort)

Thought I'd weigh in here. I mean, I'm one of those people who hates tumblr's perception of transgender people as a whole- the big thing about "you don't have to have dysphoria to be trans just slap the label of tranny on you and you're good to go uwu"
Not only that, but a lot of tumblr, from the experience of myself and others, tends to fetishise trans people as a whole, while demonizing people being cis, which probably explains the genderspecial epidemic- people don't want to be hated for being cis, so they pretend to be trans (usually people born women claiming to be demigirls or genderfluid), and eventually believe the lie themselves
What blows my mind is that people actually think being trans without dysphoria won't affect them negatively.
Some of them don't even attempt to pass at all. Sure, men can wear makeup, dresses, whatever. BUT, surely if you are trying to pass, and be seen as a man, you'd try and look sorta like a man?
