depends on the state. in that state its P2000 pistols and HK MP7 (or maybe 5 depending on the state of modernisation in the local department).

As equipment differs between the state police forces, the Bavarian Police normally uses
Heckler&Koch VP9 (SFP9-TR), MP5 (in police cruisers, will be replaced by UMP in 2021 ), G3 and FN SCAR (800 SCAR were ordered in 2018 ), MG 3 and Handgrenades are available, albeit stored in depots.
Spezialeinsatzkommandos (Special Operational Units) also have Steyr AUG, SCAR, sniper rifles, shotguns and numerous other stuff.
We also have Bereitschaftspolizei in all 16 states and a federal component but their equipment is mostly the same as the other units.
I don't want to hear shit about how militarized US cops are from our media when you've got German ones running around with MP's and battle rifles.
