That's what will happen if ratings go away. It's also effective positive reinforcement to behave. (This is using the psych definition, meaning positive is just adding something, it can be good or bad like adding a bad rating to your score or adding a good rating to your score.)

The downside is that it can cause groupthink but after a lot of tinkering I think a site like this needs a healthy dose of groupthink. It needs to be clear what is a faux pas and not.

I dunno... I was rated a-log this week about 100 times and I had an existential crisis. I haven't slept well, I'm not eating and I have cried at least 7 times in traffic. If we keep ratings, at least sponsor therapy sessions.
