Funny thing is that a Finnish tank museum that had the last surviving BT-42 got a lot of interest because of the anime and this scene. They had some tourists visit and the museum decided to use the attention they were getting to set up a crowdfunding project to fund sheltering for the tanks:

The crowdfunding was a success with half the funding coming from Japan. Building was finished in 2018 and the tanks are better preserved now:

anime tourism is something else. on one hand it's crazy why you would travel all the way to finland for that, otoh I got fascinating respect that something so simple can generate that kind of admiration.
I'll also forever be pissed the game never officially released in the west. fuck you sony, not gonna make a PSN account for 2-3 games.
