Give me ideas of what to do in Japan in August - Because you some of you guys are weebs and might know.

Going to be in Japan in 3 months and I'm trying to figure out what are good things to do.
So far the ideas are
Go to Kyoto to see the shrines and historical buldings
Go to art and history museums
Go to Mt. Fuji for hiking, nature shit, and onsen
Beach day
Go to a cat cafe (cause cats are the shit)
Maybe a shopping day. For like. Pokemon store. And video games. Get some amiibos? Japan Amiibos- Same as US Amiibos.
Tokyo Disney is at the bottom of the list incase my friend and I can't come up with enough ideas.
I'm not weeb enough to have an interest in Akihabara or maid cafes or idol groups.

Someone suggested to me that I look up local festivals. There's going to be a huge fireworks festival there.

Make sure to go exploring the outlying islands if you want nature n' shit. It'll take more than a cursory understanding of Japanese to convince a local business to rent you out scuba to go diving near Jinaito or to help cut a way to the shrine on Udoneshima, but you'll get to see (and hopefully document) things no foreigner has ever seen, and even some things that even Japanese natives haven't in decades.

The onsens in Beppu are pretty nice as well from what I experienced.
Miyagi Zao Fox Village was a fun place to visit the last time I was there, lots and lots of foxes just being...foxes.
You already mentioned the shrines in Kyoto, so I assume Inari-Taisha is on your list then?
You could go to the top of the Tokyo Skytree, my friend told me the view over Tokyo is damn amazing from there.
If you have friends going with you, or you are meeting friends there, go do some karaoke perhaps?
Perhaps take a visit to Osaka as well and check out Osaka Castle.
If you are really into castles you could also go check out Kumamoto Castle, and while down there you could check out the active volcano in Aso.
