Just type in gold and silver in a YouTube search bar and you'll start seeing a common trend among many of the channels that exist. A lot of the channels are tied to conspiracy shit or the people behind them are really shady in what they try to do. I think part of the community has died down a bit, but a lot of these channels are still quite active and still making content. What's kinda creepy about a lot of these channels is just how much they like to spew the same kind of shit. There's a whole business centered around this kind of stuff.

Some of these channels include those from the likes of Greg Hunter (usawatchdog), Illuminati Silver, Mike Maloney, Vision Victory, SilverGoldMan (formerly connectingthedots, a Fukishima conspiracy theorist), Fabian4Liberty, and Greg Mannarino. There are other people involved like Chris Duane who are also still active. It's a huge network of these people and they all want to take your money.

There's a lot more of this shit out there, but this is an idea of the kinds of paranoid shit you'll find from these clowns.

I believe a lot of this guys were inspired by Peter Schiff, the son of the late Irwin Schiff, who as you might know encouraged people not to pay their taxes and claimed there was a loophole in one of the amendments that made it possible. He was the one constantly going around saying that there would be hyperinflation and an economic collapse and all this bullshit and now he's been featured a lot on Alex Jones's show. Alex Jones has also been tied to all this gold and silver stuff and has promoted notorious con artists like Porter Stansberry on his show.

Why, theoretically, would gold and silver be valuable in the case of an economic and societal collapse? They're shiny bits of metal with few real practical uses for most people. I'd figure in that case, a barter system would be the most likely thing to emerge, where goods and services are traded directly until such a time as governments are reestablished and coinage becomes a thing again.

A while ago, some of these guys started backpedaling on their extreme doomsday scenarios and claimed that gold could be used as insurance. Ron Paul started to appear on Porter Stansberry's ads and other Agora Financial publications. I'll try to find some of that later but there are a lot more names I haven't even gone into yet that I want to talk about.

I don't think it's wrong to have gold and silver in your investment portfolio but these people I bring up want to take that into extremes and will bash fiat currencies while taking so-called fiat from unsuspecting customers and making bank from all the claims they peddle.

This is the part I don't get. Like if the government collapses, why would you want the entire internet to know you have good stashed somewhere? These guys would be hunted down and forced to relinquish their goods in a doomsday scenario almost immediately by any survivors who remembered them. That's also assuming that they can survive world war/ nuclear holocaust/ etc to begin with.
