Hmm, what are some lies Joe has told? Let's start with the ones from today.
1. He lied about receiving "rape threats this week."
Joe provided "receipts" for the "rape threats."
First of all, that is not a rape threat. Second, Joe received it in November 2020. Not exactly "this week," was it, Joe?
2. He lied about receiving "death threats" and that "cis women" were "threatening [him]."
That is not a death threat. It is not a "fantasy" about "stabbing [Joe]." It is a metaphor. How did I figure that out, you ask? Believe it or not, you don't even need a PhD in literature to simply read the portion of the tweet where the person states explicitly that it's a metaphor.
3. He lied about "a year long campaign to accuse [him] of pedophilia."
A single, one-word tweet and one Substack post is not "a yearlong campaign."
4. And he lied that he was referencing the work of minor French novelist Monique Wittig when he farted out his repugnant definition of "woman." Blaming the backlash on terfs for "fail[ing] to notice" the nonexistent connection is just the narc icing on the dickhead cake.
Here are a couple of older Joe lies I can remember off the top of my head:
1. "Hundreds" of people on Reddit called Joe "bitch, cunt." (The truth is that zero people did.)
2. Many people [implied] called for the UC Berkeley Department of Biology to review Joe's work before publication. (The truth is that zero people did.)

This has to be a manufactured publicity stunt for his memoir. Trying to amp up those sales.

To get Lavery removed from UC Berkeley there are only really two possibilities I see --

The USA is about as far away from that as we can be right now and your average American thinks the only people opposed to letting whole ass men into their daughters' locker rooms and women's prisons and rape shelters are all slack jawed hill billy bible thumpers in Alabama who simply haven't achieved woque enlightenment yet.

2. If he is actually removed from his university before that happens, I anticipate it will be far more difficult than Rhys McKinnon's case. Disagree. Grey rock can work sometimes with narcissists in interpersonal relationships, but only in the sense that they will pass on you as a target and go on to someone else. When it comes to something like Joe's twitter presence, ignoring him just allows him to sink deeper into his hugbox and will not stop him doing increasingly shitty things for any sort of attention. Plus, this is not the sort of book that you have to worry about getting more attention. No one outside of its target audience is going to buy it, no matter how much Joe tantrums on twitter. A 40-year-old Midwestern housewife or a 20 year old looking for scifi novels is not going to say 'Oh dear, I remember this person causing quite a fuss on Twitter. I should pick up this book with an outdated pun about penises in the title.' He might drum up enough attention for a modest increase in sales, but it is not going to be a mainstream hit and the publisher knows it, which is why it's on a small imprint in the first place.

This touches on the fact that cis women are constantly scolded for any negative emotions they have, even unconscious ones, in reaction to trans women (hiding from a partner who raped you in a women's shelter and feel a tiny bit uncomfortable about sharing a living space with a six-foot person with a penis? deal with it, bigot!) and yet the same people scolding them never expect trans women to even try to do the same. If anything a cis woman does makes a trans woman uncomfortable, there is no expectation that they will deal, or try to extend some empathy to figure out where the reaction is coming from. Instead, it's perfectly acceptable for them to flounce and scream and make rape threats and threaten suicide and they will get a hugbox despite of that, because their feelings were hurt and their feelings are all that matters.
