Granblue Fantasy - Infinite Grind Mobile/Web Browser Gacha Game

I figured now's as good a time as any to start a thread on this game- the New Year's promotion that's going on currently is sure to generate tons of both happiness and salt as developer Cygames gives us players free gacha rolls just for existing, and tons of other goodies.

For those of you unfamiliar, Granblue Fantasy is a mobile/web browser game that's pretty popular in Japan. It's currently got about ~20 million registered players. It's popular enough to have it's own festival yearly, tickets to which sell out alarmingly quickly.

It's shockingly in-depth for a mobile game, and you can spend thousands of hours in it without spending a dime, even more shockingly. It's basically a free (yet insanely grindy) MMORPG complete with raids, an in-depth endgame, and all.

It's not hard to find a tutorial on how to get an account and all, so if you're interested, do join the rest of us here in hell.

I do hope a fair number here already play it, so sperg on below about how you didn't get that one character you've wanted forever from the free pulls this past week, how hard the grind to get that one Eternal is/finish one of your grids is, or how bullshit drop rates are in this fucking game!

Never. Just use QooApp. I've been playing for nearly two years at this point. The current event, Second Advent, is fucking good though. Just finished fighting the Pyet-A raid battle all on my own.
Like the story is good, or the event battles are good? Or both? I've never taken very much interest in the story (I've only played far enough to unlock a majority of features, like chapter 45 or something), but I've always thought the event raids/battles to be pretty exciting.

Been playing for over a year and a half now. The grind is relentless, but after awhile it isn't so bad. I'm building my varuna grid and it's going pretty smoothly.

When will the app be officially available in English? :c

App is pretty shitty unless you like lag + not being able to see stickers during raids. Granblue is one of the few games that supports usage on browser, and it's considered the "best" way of playing it. If you're planning on making an account, now is the best time: we're still having free draw roulette until January 4th. If you're willing to spend 30 bucks or so, the beginner ticket gives you a roster of characters to choose from based on when you created your account + a free ten-draw ticket. It's defo not a bad deal, especially because you can pick limited / premium characters.

What elements does everyone main? I'm a light lord, but I have teams for every element.
Dark main here, only other solid team I have is wind. Although with these recent draws I got grand Vira, Clarisse, and Charlotta, who I've been told are all very solid light characters so I'll be starting to grind Luminiera Omega soon so I can get that grid on it's feet.

Is this another phone game that has you micromanaging over a dozen different currencies and resources? I don't need another one of those in my life.

There's 2 currencies really, but one (rupies) they give out like literal candy and unless you're doing a lot of upgrades in one fell swoop, you should never need to worry about them (at least in my experience). Crystals are standard gacha currency- you need 300 of them to pull the "premium" gacha once and they're only given as log-in rewards or rewards for completing missions.

The resource micromanagement is much worse then the currency micromanagement though, as there's 6 elements and you need different resources to upgrade things in each and some quests have insane material requirements (specifically the "Eternals" I mentioned in the OP).

It's a fun game, but you need to be a certain kind of autistic to enjoy it.

Anyone buy this Suptix? Caved and dropped the $25 myself, ticketed Melissabelle. Needed some really solid attack in my wind grind.

No, but I got Melissabelle a day before her rate up. Good thing I got Charlotta later on, got her to level 80, and did their crossfate. Now she's in my frontline with Lancelot and Lecia.

Lancelot, Lecia and Melissabelle as a frontline sounds extremely powerful, so much attack. I run Summer Jeanne/Metera/Melissabelle now, but I'd switch Metera for Lecia in a heartbeat if I ever managed to pull her, even with Metera's recent 5-star and all.

It kind of makes me sad that games that look interesting and have interesting mechanics are now making their way to mobile. So whats the point of the consoles and PC now really?

As interesting as this game is, it's 2D and (I don't believe at least) there are no fully animated cutscenes. There are consoles and PC for super complex games that require more than a bare-bones CPU and GPU. It sucks that shit like Diablo Immortal will be mobile only yes, but there's still shit like Fallout 4 and Diablo 3 on console that a phone would have trouble running.

A lot of people really enjoyed Dragons Crown though. And you could theoretically port it to a phone. I'm sure stuff that looked like final fantasy tactics would be fine too.
