An idea batted around, and also debated, around here is if Chris will end up in a group home for autistics. I don't remember if this was posted on one of the old forums or I just came across it on YouTube (probably the former), but anyway, this short video is kind of interesting:

The short of it is, these homes have long waiting lists, and those lists are getting longer.

And to be honest Chris is high functioning he has a fairly normal IQ he`s verbal his he choice to he could live independently or with a little community support, and he does to an extent. Chris he a group for autistic or others waste a space to a person in real need

Before Chris goes to a group home he needs to use his tugboat the way it was intended, and possibly get a part-time job to supplement the tugboat. Laziness aside, there is no reason Chris can't live independently.

Of course, first he needs to actually want to be a functioning member of society.

he would need to buy into such an idea. he would have to admit himself to a home. no one will do this for him. the only place anyone else would send him is to jail. i hope that doesn't sound a-loggy. but group home is the most optimistic of the post-barb theories. it is also one of the least likely.

Not only are there few homes with long wait lists, but they aren't free. Chris won't pay his own way, no one can force him to, and no one will pay for him. This is the end result of Borb "mainstreaming" Chris... He's technically capable of making his own decisions, so no one can now force him into the help he needs.

Not to mention that group homes are abusive and violent places, and where the Teamsters and/or SEIU can stick their corrupt heads in, they care more about money than the clients. A homeless shelter, or as said before, jail, would be better places for CWC.

Speaking of Teamsters, the only group home Chris is headed to is a truck stop where he'll "comfort" lonely truckers.

That being said some type of case work would be a great thing for Chris to have

In the slim chance that Chris is assigned to a group home after Barb's death or whatever, I can see him getting kicked out pretty quickly. He's shown us that he does not follow rules well, and he also sees other autists as portals to hell. I mean, the autists in the video look fairly normal. Heck, some of them look more normal than some non-autists I've come across. They're able to keep the house clean, feed themselves reasonably healthy fare (Cheerios does lower cholesterol!) and engage in outdoor activities in a friendly manner.

I would also venture that they also do their own laundry, and we all know Chris' stance on that. Plus I imagine that with all his vidya, some of the other autists might be curious and want to play with them (or with him in multiplayer games) but given how Chris behaved about his vidya when he brought it to the Game Place (or Gamestop?) vidya would quickly become a source of contention in the household.

The boring reality of it all is that Chris will eventually be appointed a social worker. The social worker will be taking care of all these tasks like finding housing and some basic job. He'll no longer have to be "working on it"

Having problematic man-children who don't like following the rules is nothing new to such homes. Everything else is just a matter of Chris bending over to their authority over him, which will happen eventually. And I think you are overestimating Chris's stubbornness in such a hypothetical situation.

As long as Chris continues to refuse to wash his own dirty, crapped briefs, I doubt Chris' stubbornness could ever be overestimated.

Perhaps. But most weren't raised by Bob and Barb.

Chris is not ending up in a group home; he's way to stubborn. And besides, aren't those places mostly for lower-functioning autistics?

Um, no, assuming that shits himself as often and that he doesn't clean it already, the people at such a home can and will make him wash his own shit if they want to.

Perhaps. But most weren't raised by Bob and Barb.

I don't think you people realize, that there are people who are orders of magnitude worse than Chris in those homes. Chris is not some unique autistic retard that nobody can influence. There are hundreds of people like him out there, and worse, who simply don't have their own ED pages.

Years ago I worked at a home for the mentally handicapped (instead of military service, we can choose whether we want to serve in the armed forces or do social work, conscription has been renounced recently though).

All of the kids who lived in the home (they were between 6 and 20 years old) were markedly lower functioning than Chris'tard, only a few of them could read and do basic math, none of them would have been able to drive a car or install a new OS on a computer. Some had to be fed or watched over constantly because they would run away and get into trouble. One young man had the unfortunate habit of wandering off to children's playgrounds, stand in the middle of the sandbox and jerk off.

Now, most of these kids actually got some sort of employment, many got jobs on a farm-plus-workshop that employed mentally disabeled adults.

I'm trying to picture in my head what would have happened if da Chris'tard had been there. He'd have been by far the most intelligent guy... Probably too intelligent for this type of institution. The sight of "window-to-hell" kids who need to be fed and cannot talk would have creeped him out. He wouldn't have liked at all having to do the dishes, help prepare food, sweep the floor etc. Also, vidya and TV were forbidden at that place, so pure hell for CWC.

IQ =/= common sense or the ability to take care of oneself. Chris is lazy as all get out.

In the grand scheme of things, Chris isn't that "disabled". Sure, he's a crazy goofball, but he's capable of dressing himself, has rudimentary communication skills, knows not to drink drain cleaner or put his hand on a hot burner, doesn't smear fecal matter on his walls, has never put his head or fist through a plate glass window, knows (now) not to talk to strangers, etc. He's also capable of basic house work type stuff; He doesn't do it because it's never been asked or expected of him.

Chris' biggest problem is that he's a shiftless asshole, and you don't need autism to be that.
