Greatest game evar? Or a symbol of Rockstar's bloated ego?

Since people have loads of opinions on GTA5 that are less than positive on the game I thought it'd be interesting to hear them.

Last picture I took before I sold my hexbox. Single player was fun as always, but Online really sucked. They even turned it into nothing more then Pay 2 Win crap *sigh* (:_( .

Which ending did everyone pick?

I don't see why anyone would pick anything but the Deathwish option.
I heard some people picked Kill Trevor to avenge Johnny Klebitz

Trevor was miles better then Johnny. In GTA5 Johnny was nothing more then a meth addict anyway. :medallion:

It was also revealed via dummied out code that originally option C was going to have Franklin die and he'd be replaced by Lamar, in a similar way to RDR.

I'll have to look for where I read it, it was on the GTAForums. I'm guessing they reworked option C inorder to make future DLC down the road.

Lamar should have been the 3rd playable character from the beginning anyway. Lamar was awesome, while Franklin was just an uppity :pickleman: in the beginning and just a side character after Trevor is introduced.

I think they made Franklin a straight man mostly to distance him away from CJ and to avoid controversy.

I'm waiting for the PC version that apparently won't be released until summer of 2014. I'm planning to upgrade my PC around that date in order to prepare for the upcoming next-gen games.

The game is a very, very good game. However, best game EVAR? No, not quite.

Pros:
- Tons of improvements from GTAIV. They used the combat system they had in Max Payne 3 which makes things much more fun to play. Also, thank GodBear, they fixed the driving mechanics so it doesn't feel like you're driving on ice.
- Lots of ways to cause havoc.
- Lots of ways to customize your vehicles.
- Lots of little hidden things to find and activities to keep you from playing the main game... although...
- ...the main core of the game is actually fun and you'll probably enjoy the story.
- Although Trevor steals the show, Michael and Franklin are interesting in their own ways if you give it enough effort (as in, playing the game for more than making big explosions)

Cons:
- Rockstar Over-Snark. If you've played any of Rockstar's games, you know they have a very self-aware sense of humor. While it is fun in parts, after a while, it's kind of like going on a 6-hour drive with that one kid back in college that was all "Down with the system!" and really had nothing much else to say.
- The cops don't take ANY shit. You can be out in the desert and taking pot shots of people driving by on the Freeway- the cops will lock right on you irregardless.
- Not a helluva lot of character customization. Rockstar pretty much decides for you what Michael, Frederick and Trevor will wear thankyouverymuch. Trevor has the most leeway, but only just. If you think you're going to be able to customize them as much as say Saints Row, you'll be disappointed.
- They've implemented the "optional objectives" mechanic like they did in Ballad of Gay Tony. So, basically even though you're playing an open-world game, on missions, you much follow the exact way the game designers wanted you to or else you won't be 100%. Granted, you'll still clear the mission and it's a way for the designers to pad out replayability, but it's still crap.
- Multiplayer is balls. Right from the character customization screen, you know it's going to be balls.

Is it in my top 10 games ever? No. Top 10 of this generation? Close... but no. Definitely in my Top 20 though.

Rockstar has strayed away from the large amount of character customization they had in San Andreas. When GTA4 was in development they stated they weren't going to allow for Niko to be customized beyond his clothing because the game "wasn't supposed to be about that". Red Dead Redemption had Vice City's style of unlockable outfits rather than different specific clothing.

In general GTA5's increase in features really seems like Rockstar addressing criticisms with GTA4

It's a largely optional feature they've implemented in most of their games. (Red Dead Redemption also had it). For the most part it's only there just to add replayability and it can be largely ignored if the player doesn't care (since just like in all the previous games you only fail a mission if you die or fail the objective). Not to mention you can just complete the game completely ignoring it and can replay a specific mission to get 100% if you really want to.

The only time 100% impacts rewards is stuff like heist missions where making a bad decision can lower the amount of money you make. Such as in the jewelry store heist where
picking the cheap gunman has him crash and die when you ride to the rendezvous and you lose a portion of the take.

GTAO is an MP trying to have the economy of an MMORPG. They wanted money to be the driving force behind everything. So it was only a matter of time before players tried to break the game so they could get rich quicker. Rockstar was not prepared. Everytime a money exploit popped up it took them a month to fix it. When people learned how to resell a car over and over again they actually LOWERED the cash payouts from missions weeks before they fixed the exploit. So many legitimate players gave in because people 1/3rd their rank were driving million dollar cars. Then people figured out how to not only instantly make billions of dollars but how to share it in public free roams without any players being able to refuse. If you waited in a lobby for a few hours there was a good chance 100+ million would appear in your bank account. Personal tanks everywhere.

Last week Rockstar patched it and reset everyone's cash to 550k or less. If they can keep another massive money glitch from appearing then it's fine. Everyone already bought everything they could though. The stockmarket has been functional and influenced by player purchases for months but I doubt they'll add it to GTAO anytime soon. When the next money glitch appears people could hide their cash in stocks

A friend of mine mentioned he wished they made GTAO more like Red Dead Redemption's multiplayer. And I'm inclined to agree with him.

Leaked audio files have suggested that in GTAO you'll eventually be able to gamble at a casino, own businesses, race for pink slips, and hire a hitman.

The thing is that many people who have played for the last 3 months probably already own the stuff that counts. The 200k apartment is the same as the 400k apartment (200k is better in my opinion since you can exit it from either side), you probably have a modified super car, and you have some cash in the bank for ammo and other small expenses. That's assuming you play casually. I was a total sperg and got all that stuff in the first month by doing races.

There needs to be more money sinks and stupid status symbol shit for people to throw their money at. People in MMORPGs ate that crap up. People will pay hundreds of thousands for small items to be placed in their apartments or even just to change the interior color. They'd pay tens of millions for a mansion. Charge them 2 million to be able to buy a second 10 car garage and they'll cream themselves.

I had 9 Adders and a Z Type stashed away because I saw the reset coming from a mile away. That's 6 million bucks when sold to mod shops. The thing is it doesn't matter. I own everything I want and even shit I don't want. I bought a winnibago or whatever just so I could dress like Walter White for one night and yell "Jessie, we need to cook!" at people. Own a sail boat. Never used it. I strapped sticky bombs on my Entity so when a rank 5 fired a single pistol shot at me he thought he blew me up. Today I got a jerry curl, make-up, and some short shorts and hid in the back of NPC driven trailers until another player drove behind it so I could burst out and startle the fuck out of them as I landed on their windshield. They were so confused that I'd have have time to run into a dark alley. That last one has nothing to with money. It's just fun as fuck to do.

The point is that for a game that claims money is power there is really fuck all to do with it beyond buy a tank and that gets old quick.
