Guilty Pleasures: Films/Series you love against all logic -

We here at the cwckiforums have a highly refined palate in our taste of TV and movies, both in terms of what we genuinely love with movie and TV classics, and things we love to mock in movies that would make Tommy Wiseau wince. However, due to some mishap of brain chemistry, errant nostalgia, or simple inanity there is all too often a movie or a tv series that we genuinely love against all conventional logic or our own personal tastes.

Thus I have created a thread here where you sick and twisted deviants can sperg to your heart's content about the forbidden guilty pleasures you carry with you, and why you think you love them so much. Just jot down the Tv/cartoon/anime/movie you love and a teensie explaination as to why.

(P.s. If this becomes a protracted discussion about a certain equine related cartoon I will flay you while you still breath)

Melrose Place. My ex-wife watched it and even though I pretended to hate it for some reason the crazy lack of plots really amused me.
Can't stand soap operas or dramas but for some reason Melrose worked. (Also the slow motion jogging scenes)

Medabots

I go 'tismal over it but only from a continuously googling standpoint, I've never actually had a conversation about it.

If I wasn't counting films/series's I also go really 'tismal over Bionicle for some reason, I just really like reading it's wiki and understanding more of it's lore. I think it has to do with playing the admittedly really good Myst clone back in the early 2000s

I liked "Scream 4". Alison Brie being in it might have helped that a bit. :heart-full: Part1 is good too, 2 and 3 sucked though.

The premise of the Steve Wilkos show is "all the guests that Jerry Springer was too classy for".

If it is on, I will watch it. It is the worst piece of television in the history of the medium, it makes Honey Boo Boo look dignified by comparison, but I will watch it beginning to end.

The very idea that they let Steve Wilkos host a show is hilarious. It's obvious it got green lit after some kind of episode where Steve screamed at someone on Springer and maybe threw a chair, because the entire point of the show is to manufacture those two situations. The combination of serious subject matter (pedophiles are their paternity tests) and useless meat head host trying to find someone to scream at makes for the absolute pinnacle of trainwreck footage. There is beauty in the perfection and totality of it's debasement.

I have so many guilty pleasures and I feel like I'm not even guilty about them anymore. I just unapologeticaly watch things like Intervention and Teen Mom 2 for hours on end while I study. I swear "My Strange Addiction" actually make me more productive.

I love watching Hoarders though, because there is literally no better thing to clean your house to. There was a marathon the other day and I literally got on my hands and knees and scrubbed my kitchen floor with bleach and lavender water.

This. A primal part of myself loves this show for unholy reasons.

I love me some hoarding shows.

I know this is going to sound weird, but also the Star Trek and James Bond film series. While there have been great ones ( Wrath of Khan, Undiscovered Country, First Contact, Goldfinger, The Spy Who Loved Me, Casino Royale), there's also been some reeeeeeeeaaal doosies (Final Frontier, Moonraker).

Degrassi. I was about the same age as the characters were when Degrassi: The Next Generation began airing. I don't watch it religiously or anything, but I will watch diligently when there's marathons of it. It's fantastic melodrama.

Since I started this thread off I may as well make this admission

I really, really liked the twilight movies

Part of it is the "so bad its good" thing which has me cringing with laughter every few seconds, part of it is the fact that they are easily the most accurate movie adaptations of any book series ever, part of it is the fact I have watched the rifftrax versions of the series so many times I can basically recall them from memory while watching, and part of it is pure masochism, but I honestly find watching them in their own right enjoyable. Personally I think its the perfomances of anyone but the main cast, most are fine and those like Martin Sheen make all the mumbly, trite, and occasionally offensive romance scenes worth it.

I just finished watching the series on Netflix. I blame a fit of mid-nineties nostalgia and a desire to wear flowery dresses, scrunchy hats, and Docs again.

Cosigning Degrassi: TNG and Bridezillas, and adding Dance Moms, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Big Freedia, and Snake Salvation.

Neighbours. The characters often make some of the stupidest decisions ever and there are a lot of cringe-worthy moments (especially all the sappy love stories and goddamn pregnancies) but the show does have the ability to keep you hooked for future episodes. They even had a murder mystery recently but the reveal was rather disappointing. Also, I'm fed up with Kate. That bi-polar 'oh-I'm-so-innocent-leave-me-alone-to-think-things-over' bitch needs to leave already since no one's boyfriend is safe in Ramsey Street when she's around.

I used to smoke weed in an area that I later learned was used for exterior scenes in Degrassi: The Next Generation.

I love the Dynasty Warrior series despite every additional game being the same as the last. I also watch Law and Order: SVU not because it's terribly interesting but because I don't need to have too much attention invested in it to know what is going on. Plus the stories are always so ridiculously far fetched its almost like a comedy.

Degrassi: I've been watching since Next Generation started, I gotta admit next gen was better then the current season, but I still watch anyway.
Rosario Vampire: I usually never watch Harem anime, but for some reason I enjoy this one. I like the humor, and the way the cast in the dub interacts, you can tell their having fun, and there is a lot of humor.
Steve Wilkos: Same reasons as previous posters
To catch a Predator: I love the guys horrible excuses, "uh I'm at the wrong house."
Hoarders, And various "Nerd" reality shows like Heroes of Coplay, mostly to laugh at the stupid drama, "Such and such is NOT fit to be a professional cosplayer! its like she isn't taking the art seriously!!!"
