So, is anyone else playing this awesome fighting game, but me?

This is the first non Dynasty Warriors Gundam game released in the US since Crossfire in 2006.

I'm loving the game, and I feel like I might be able to platinum it.

Only problem is the Hard Survival Mode...and the trophy for fighting 1000 online battles (at least it's not 1000 wins, but holy fuck)

So far, my favorite suits to use are the Mack Knife, the Providence Gundam, and the Marasai

I'm having a lot of fun with it, I imported the last two of the series but it's nice having localised online multiplayer.

The suits I've been using most are Wing Zero and RX-78-2 Gundam and I've got to the final mission of hard survival mode (With Guntank), it's tricky though!

So far I've found having Jerid with the Marasai is the best partner option ( either that or Cecily Fairchild in the Vigna Ghina) because both suits are low cost and are excellent at ranged fighting.

The closest I've come is wave 48 using the Providence. I will have to try with a lower cost suit I guess. Perhaps the Nemo

What upgrades do you use when going through Survival? (I personally like to focus on increasing resistance to damage: melee, projectile, and beam) and I don't ever refill the gauge unless it's getting dangerously low

Tbh I think I got lucky, Guntank with upgraded ranged does huge damage despite being cheap and you can sit back and fire volley shots, I didn't really bother with resistance unless I had spare points because if I'm not avoiding damage Guntank usually goes down quite quickly.

Game looks gorgeous, how is the battle system? It it like Xenoverse or does it rely more on skillful playing rather than grinding?

The grinding means literally nothing except for unlocking Strikers (mobile suit partners that you summon, they do a quick attack, and then they vanish), titles, emblems, etc. Basically stuff that you show off for online matches

Anything you can do with a mobile suit at level 20 (the highest level) you can do with it at level 0.

It's the most competitive Gundam game out there. It's about skill. a 500 power mobile suit is theoretically the strongest thing available, but if you're skilled enough, you can easily beat a player using a 500 mobile suit like the Sazabi, using a piddly 200 power mobile suit, like the Hizack.

If you've never played a game in the Gundam versus series, it takes some getting used to. The combat system is unlike anything you've probably played before (although Xenoverse's battle system has similarities to this one) But once you've figured it out, you can easily adapt to any mobile suit out of the MASSIVE roster. Mastering a mobile suit takes skill, because different mobile suits have different strengths.

For example, my favorite one, the Mack Knife, is a close combat mobile suit. It has ranged weaponry, but if you're not trying to get up close and personal with your opponent, then you're not playing to the mobile suit's strengths.

Conversely, the Guntank is almost exclusively ranged. It only has one move where it can even do melee damage, and it's main close quarters attack is a gatling gun.

EDIT: Oh, one last thing. The game does have single player missions, although there is no story mode. So you can't use this game to learn the Gundam stories, really. Not that you need to know the stories to enjoy the game. It's fun enough to just play as giant robots fighting each other.

However, the multiplayer is where the most fun comes in. The single player's AI enemies can become predictable, but in multiplayer, you never know what you'll be up against, because everyone has their own strategy, and mobile suit of choice

It's certainly one of the better PS4 exclusives. That and the Yakuza games are reason enough to own a PS4 as far as I'm concerned

I had heard of this game for a while, but the tournament at EVO this year was the first time I'd seen it in play. It looks AWESOME. I played way too much of DW:Gundam to get my fix, and this looks like exactly what I wanted all along.

Too bad I don't have a PS4, ha-ha! Looks like I get to pick between a new GPU or hopping back on the Playstation train.

Yeah, I wish we'd know for certain, though it seems pretty rare for a PS4 exclusive game to be later ported to other consoles, let alone the PC. Still, the Fighting Game Gods have been pretty generous lately with ports like Killer Instinct and Guilty Gear Xrd, and usually the PC ports of fighting games provide the best online experiment connection-wise (even though usually the console ports still have a larger player base), so I think there's room for some cautious optimism.

No. Even in Japan, there aren't really much to speak of for PC (except for those online games that are free to play). This is because Japan is really more of a console audience. Oh sure, there are some hardcore PC gamers in Japan, but they are a minority. It's mainly a console culture in Japan, and Sony and Nintendo are the top dogs
