Something I just realized is that Chief didn't have a meltdown when he was told Cortana was deleted. Hell, he didn't linger on it at all. I think that's a step in the right direction for how they should write his character. In 4/5, I never liked how they turned him into a softie whenever Cortana was brought up, so straying from that is a good sign.
A little bit of my primal rage will always emerge when I think about that one line in Halo 4.
"She said that to me once, about being a machine."
That's a fucking dumb line and it goes against the character we played as for a whole trilogy.

nu-Cortana is probably going to become more laid back and less clinical/militaristic over the course of the story if she sticks around for it.

John by design is supposed to be a resetting canvas, the player -is- John, so it felt like the most cliche thing to break from that blank stone demeanor just because he had been out of the picture for almost a decade.

Does it count as thirstposting if I say the Razorback makes me erect? There's a lot of info here I can talk about (powerups, customization, the Academy, location-based vehicle damage), but I'll just say it all looks really solid. I've been thinking for awhile we needed more updates in the form of Bungie-era vidocs, and this was exactly that.

Is that the hybrid zoom-in that was on the AR? Admittedly, I never played 5 so I don't know what it's like in practice. Was it clunky to use or something?

I wouldn't mind if you could attach certain smart scopes to automatic weapons with a tradeoff in another area (or certain automatic weapons that are hidden in the map/are dropped off halfway through have them), but yeah, they seem to be being coy about whether smart scopes are in the game by default.

I'm sure I'll get over it but damn, they were doing really good with the gameplay up until this. Only thing I can hope for is that it'll ACTUALLY be just cosmetic this time won't give the gameplay boosts like it did in 5.

On the plus side, sprint looks like it's been nerfed so heavily that I don't even know why it's still in the game, it seriously looks like you barely move faster with it at all now.

I honestly wish they would just upload a 10-15 minute Team Slayer match without any fancy editing or bullshit commentary so we can actually see what this game looks like in action without any of the fluff.

A Spartan did a slide in the multi-player trailer yesterday so they might be in. Maybe this will be the first good live service game because 343i will listen to the community and take out the shitty features from 5 they want to staple in.

Don't quote me on this, but I believe they said that armor abilities aren't a part of Infinite, only equipment items. I don't think they've precluded the possibility of older armor abilities coming back as equipment items, so it's possible that's what we saw in the trailer. I also imagine they'd be a bit more balanced in that you only get one use out of them before you have to find something else, unlike armor abilities that have infinite use once you wait out their cooldown. I never played 5 but I know I've heard gripes about the smart scope before, so we'll probably have to wait and see.

Overall, the video has me getting a bit more optimistic. The sandbox looks like a lot of fun to play in, and I like how robust the customization options are. As a fan of BTB, I can't wait to dive into some 12v12 matches. I'm also pleased to hear about their battle pass plans, going out of their way to reduce FOMO by letting you buy passes whenever and choose what rewards you want to work towards. Looks like they took the MCC implementation to heart, albeit with some monetization to support it since it's F2P. And while they've said it before, it's always nice to hear them continue to emphasize no lootboxes.

Cosplay guide for Mark VII MJOLNIR armor tomorrow, a Canon Fodder article about new Infinite stuff on Wednesday, and the Inside Infinite I assumed would be out last month will instead drop next Thursday.

I actually liked that part of 4. Master chief has always been interesting to me because of his subtle moments of kindness and humanity. Even More so then say the doomguy. It didn't seem like that big a stretch for someone who believed he had lost one of his best friends.

Although you tend to see that side of him more often in the books.

Slide is in as one of the base traits along with sprint, clamber, and now I guess smart scope. Thrust, ground pound, Spartan charge, and hover haven't been sighted yet, although I have heard rumors thrust will be one of the equipment pickups, which I could live with.

Here's a gif showing someone going in and out of sprint, I seriously do not see a speed difference at all, certainly nothing like Reach, 4 or 5 where you would just fucking take off. And also interesting that it looks like you can shoot immediately coming out of sprint.

First one looks like the Reach MK V and the second looks a bit more alpha-ish? I dunno but i'm definitely going to be rocking SOME form of mk v in infinite.
