I honestly don't think so, most Destiny players only play PvP to complete bounties and then go right back to PvE. The super-dedicated Destiny PvP-focused players crutch so hard on the game's absurd aim assist, infinite shotgun/sniper ammo, Hand Cannon peekshooting, and imbalanced abilities (glacier into shatterdive, geomags stalling, the entirety of top tree dawnblade) that they'd get shitstomped in Halo. Hardcore Destiny PvP players are MASSIVE egotists who are going to ragequit after playing 3 matches, and being unable to get a free 7.0 K/D because Halo doesn't have a million crutches, or a PvP playerbase majorly comprised of people that don't want to be playing PvP.

...This explains the type of rampant quitters on the MCC, then.

I'm expecting more from Inside Infinite and come what(ever) event, later. Thankfully nothing too concerning had showed up yet.

I wish Halo and CoD would hide the K/D ratio, the whole esports crap has brought the worst behavior in gaming in general.

I guess. It's a pain in the ass sometimes. I know you can't always get the game mode, the map or the team mates that you want but people should just play anyway instead of quitting, especially when you're in a fucking social playlist.

My biggest concern is the lack of info, they're just being so damn cagey about everything. We're (presumably) about 6 months out from launch and there's still so much we need to know. Hell, for some reason the campaign segment of the E3 presentation hasn't been uploaded to the Xbox or Halo Youtube channels, which is really strange in and of itself. Even Starfield got a release date, and it's like a year and a half away! They couldn't even give a beta date aside from their nebulous "We'll share more soon" line they love so much.

I think all of this is leading up to them either announcing another delay, or that the game will launch incomplete and shit like forge, customs, theater, etc. will be added later. I'd love to be wrong, but that's pretty much exactly what they did with H5 (and it fucking sucked). But every day that goes by without them sharing this stuff makes me more confident one of those two things is gonna happen.

I think that the lack of a solid release date is them covering their asses in case of a delay.

Not that I can see Microsoft allowing their golden goose to skip their new consoles twice (unless Forza Horizon is a bigger system seller than I think), but the fact that Starfield has a solid release date 1.5 years in advance makes me curious about why Halo Infinite doesn't.

Maybe they're just holding their cards very close to their chest, but I'm starting to feel a little paranoid here.

So 343i did one of the easiest things and something they should have done years ago:

Simply Copy pasted the Mark VII helmet into MCC for Halo 4 of all things. :story:

343i needs to make a halo 3 (non odst, with the Mark VI multiplayer spartans) Firefight and an actual Halo 4 firefight on MCC.
But then that would mean actually doing something semi-original.

"Nuuu, it has to be a First person bullet hell."-troons at 343i (Halo 5 warzone '"""Firefight""")

I think they're holding their cards close just so autists won't start complaining about everything before giving the game a chance, just that they fucked up at the start with Craig's trailer
There is no Firefight 3.0 even planned for infinite and the game is already doomed to fail with the amount of cheaters that can all too easily just make 500 alt accounts since its Free to play.

I think I have met my first cheater in the MCC.

I'd rather have 343 port the Warzone Firefight to the MCC than waste more resources on a dedicated team to create a firefight mode for 2 games from scratch.

Yeah, much as I appreciate them revitalizing TMCC, something that big should be made for Infinite instead.

Might actually happen too, given how they reintroduced Firefight in Halo 5.

Warzone Firefight was a fucked up, broken disaster. If Infinite gets Firefight I hope it's nothing like it.

In fact now that there's AI players, you can probably do a whole bunch of cool things with that in Firefight...

So after going over the flight updates and such, here's a relatively comprehensive list of what's coming to MCC with season 7 (Elite) this Wednesday:
  • Improved Halo CE visuals to bring them closer to the original Xbox graphics
  • Custom game browser for Halo Reach with various improvements (such as full sessions sorting to the bottom of the list); additional game support will be added in future updates
  • Waterfall and Edge map improvements, Edge actually getting added to the game this time
  • New customization content for Halo CE, 3, and 4: vehicle skins for CE, energy sword skins and Halo Online Elite armors for 3, Champions Bundle armors and previously unreleased weapon skins for 4
  • Firefight added to the Match Composer, giving you more control over what gametypes you'll be playing
  • New mod tools (to be detailed in a blog post coming this week hopefully)
  • Miscellaneous bug fixes
I think I have met my first cheater in the MCC.

Yeah, I had my first obvious cheater about a week ago in an Invasion match. He wasn't even trying to hide it, flying around the map getting nothing but headshots, moving too fast to effectively fight back. I made a ticket to report him and included a short clip of the match for proof; no update on the ticket since then, so I dunno if he's been banned or not. Probably not the first time he's done it, but he was doing it hard; it was a relatively fresh account and he was already rank 25 in Invasion.

That's the only one that I knew had to be cheating because it was so obvious, but I'm not sure if I've run into any others. That's the problem with cheaters in games like this, it's sometimes hard to say for sure whether they're aimbotting or just really good.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection Devs Are Considering Increasing the Player Count

Well, that would certainly be interesting. Not even Infinite has playercounts that high as far as we know. I think they should just leave it out from the OG Xbone version cuz I can't imagine the shitty ancient hardware would be able to handle it.
This might be them dipping their toes into larger modes, maybe testing them in TMCC to see if Infinite could benefit.

Oh, and the Elite update is out now, and the Halo 4 Mark V armor is one of the earlier unlocks (very happy about that).

Thank fuck, a happy medium, because the bulk of the championship armor isn't that much worth the grind.

I hope someone eventually mods Halo: CEA's graphics to have better lighting, meshes, textures, and vegetation. CEA looked ok for the time it released, but it overall looks too bright and saturated. The worst example can be seen in 343 Guilty Spark where the increased brightness ruins the atmosphere.

Was gonna make a post about that, but I didn't want to double-post. It's too early to say for sure whether anything will come of that, but it's interesting that they're looking into it.

Season 7's out now, and since I have nothing better to do, here's a summary of what's new, spoiler-tagged so as not to take up too much space here.

Before that, though, I should mention that there's a freebie available in the Exchange, the Keystone helmet for Halo 4, aka the Mark VII helmet from Infinite. Probably wasn't a lot of work to port that since it was already being modeled at the time anyway, but it's a nice surprise. Plus it looks considerably better than most H4 helmets, so that's always good.
So everything that I mentioned in my previous post made it into the update. Patch notes are here, going over the specifics of everything that's been added. They go into detail with what changes were made to CE's graphics as well, which is good to know. Other things added include changes to the CE Hardcore playlist and the ability to watch terminals and cinematics from the Extras menu. There are also an assortment of bugfixes; tucked away in those notes, all five emblems previously tied to watching Halo Nightfall episodes are now unlocked for everyone.

Also, one bugfix I hope has finally addressed an issue that has fucked me over for two seasons in a row. There's been a persistent bug with regards to meta-challenges, like the weekly "complete 10 PVE/PVP challenges" or the seasonal ones that reward customization unlocks. In a nutshell, if the game crashed when you finished a challenge that would complete a meta-challenge, the game would fail to update the meta-challenge appropriately but would mark the challenge as complete, locking you out from ever completing it. This blocked me from getting the Lucky Shot BR skin in season 5 and the Azure techsuit in season 6, but it sounds like they've done some updates to the system to hopefully prevent that from happening again.

And as mentioned above, CE mod tools are available now but will likely not be supported to quite the extent as the MCC proper. Still pretty neat to see, and hopefully we'll see more being made available in the future.
Another 100-tier season, so be prepared for a grind. The pass contains two of the Energy Sword skins, all of the Elite and Champions Bundle armor sets, almost all of the H4 weapon skins, the H4 armor effects ported from Reach, a couple H3 techsuits, and an assortment of nameplates. The Exchange this season looks to be where all but one of the remaining sword skins, the other techsuits, and the H1 vehicle skins have ended up, costing 3, 4, and 2 points respectively.

Seasonal challenges are as follows:
  • Elite Swordplay: Complete the Nice Slice and Keep Killer challenges. Unlocks the Evocati's Edge Energy Sword skin (white) in Halo 3.
    • Nice Slice: Earn 343 points through Energy Sword kills. Campaign kills on Heroic or harder are worth 1 point, multiplayer kills are worth 10. Infection's probably the way to go.
    • Keep Killer: Kill 500 high-ranking Elites in Campaign or Spartan Ops missions on Normal or harder. The Thunderstorm skull should make this easier.
  • Nightcrawler: Complete the Bedtime Stories and Caesar Dressing challenges. Unlocks the GEN2 Tinted Smoke techsuit in Halo 3.
    • Bedtime Stories: Complete 7 night missions on Heroic or harder. Floodgate or Nightfall are fast missions to speedrun.
    • Caesar Dressing: Get 343 assassination kills. In campaign you must be on Heroic or harder. The beginning of Nightfall and Rally Point Bravo in Midnight provide a checkpoint just before an easy assassination point.
  • Pixel Perfect: Complete the Brain Burst and Quattro King challenges. Unlocks the Pixel BR skin in Halo 4.
    • Brain Burst: Earn 500 headshots in matchmade games. Must be done with the Battle Rifle even though the description doesn't specify. Play some non-Reach/CE SWAT.
    • Quattro King: Win 15 ranked matchmade games in Halo 4. H4 Squad Battle remains the only competitive H4 playlist, and it's only 15 wins instead of the 25 from last season.
  • Living on the Edge: Complete a custom game, earning at least three kills, on Edge. Simple enough.
  • Nifty Fifty: Complete 50 matchmade PVP games.
  • Weekly Watchie: Complete 30 weekly challenges.

I can't stand the Anniversary graphics for CEA, but the prison food look of Gearbox Halo was downright depressing to the point it affected my drive to actually play through the game to any reasonable ability... I'm glad it's actually fixed, within the twentieth anniversary timeframe. Bump mapping does wonders.
