[The Doom Slayer]

Unlocked the Infinite helmet. Man, scrolling through the Halo 4 armor pieces just reminds me how generic and uninspired they all are. They all just blend together and I seriously couldn't name you a single one that sticks out for me, aside from some of the helmets like the unicorn one.

I kind of wish these new armors were compatible across all games, because god knows I'm never touching H4's multiplayer or Spartan Ops with a 10 foot pole ever again. And that's coming from someone who likes H4 more than most.

I personally hope we get a SPALDING logo for the GEN2 Undersuits in Halo 3, because that's what its texture reminds me of.

It says something that the least-bad H4 helmets are the ones that are most closely related to Bungie-era armor sets. The ones that still have some Bungie DNA in them look alright (examples: EOD, Air Assault, Recon), but almost any time 343 came up with a brand-new set, it sucked horribly. Looking through the list of armor permutations, the only two helmets that 343 designed that I'm kind of okay with are Aviator and Warrior.

The Mark VII helm is much better, and I'm glad they made it available for free. Wouldn't mind seeing it ported to 3 as well (and Reach and 2A as long as we're at it).

To me this almost sounds like they're gonna try something like Spartan Ops again.

I wouldn't mind another shot at Spartan Ops, as a concept it's a good idea. The issue with it was the awful writing and the general gameplay and art of Halo 4 being shit.

Spartan Ops was a good idea but they needed to improve it instead of abandoning it based on the community feedback at the time.
I've played the first mission over and over alone on legendary difficulty to complete the challenges during the previous season and the pacing would have been way better if there was some kind of terminal where you could order new vehicles or reinforcements. I shouldn't have to sprint for a mile to find a vehicle that will blow up the second I start shooting at the covenants.

As for the player being the hero, I remember Joker saying in a video that he thinks they're going to kill the Chief in Infinite and have "you" become the new hero.

As someone who has the "Complete every episode of Spartan Ops on Legendary Solo" achievement, I have a nauseous gut reaction whenever Spartan Ops is brought up. They'd have to seriously put a lot of effort into making it fun this time around, not just "kill wave of enemies, walk here, press button, kill wave of enemies", etc.

HIGHLY doubt it. That'd piss off everyone and may be the final nail in the franchise. Even if 343 wanted to I doubt MS would let them, MC is their #1 mascot and they know he prints money, especially after the whole H5 debacle that seems to have reminded them of this. And then you have Staten and others outright calling him the heart of Halo and stuff.

If anything I think it'd be like Spartan Ops where you're off doing a separate military campaign on Zeta Halo while Chief is somewhere else doing his usual Chief stuff.

Yeah, thankfully you have infinite lives when you play or else I would have given up on that achievement immediately. I spent more than enough time staring at the screen waiting to respawn after I got one-shot by a binary rifle or whatever it may be.

Maybe I'll find time to trough through it for such an achievement. Halo 4 has not aged well. It's a mismatch of fast gameplay while still trying to be an arena shooter.

Spartan Ops was pretty clearly designed to be played with multiple people. They throw shitloads of enemies at you to the point where it just becomes completely obnoxious, so they had to make it infinite lives or else it would've been unplayable. But that's also a negative because since there's zero penalty for dying, you can just keep mindlessly throwing yourself at the enemy until you eventually brute force your way to victory.

SO was a good concept but the execution was horrific, if they bring it back for Infinite they need to massively step it up.

Halo 5: Guardians is the only mainline Halo game rated T for Teen.

Does Halo deserve an M rating? I ask because I discovered that Halo: CE was originally rated T for Teen until the ESRB "thought it over."

If Reddit is anything to go by, sure. I don't think Infinite was officially rated.

Well, HW2 has the Flood and it's rated T, but IIRC their dismemberment shtick was toned down.

I still don't really know why the non-Flood games (ODST, Reach, 4) were rated M cuz there wasn't anything THAT crazy in them. I guess 4 had that scene with the scientist lady getting her face melted off on-screen but that's about it.

Thanks to this guide, I'm now five achievements richer.

Classic, Uplift Reserve, Deference of Darkness, Xenophobia and Two Places, Same Time. Only took me four tries. I thought there was one achievement to complete a level on Legendary without dying.
