Amazing Hammered Dulcimer Player in Central Park NYC
Very talented. Performer is Arlen Oleson. This was taken just next to Bethesda Fountain under the arches. Edit (12/12/12): Album on Amazon: http://amzn.com/B...
Change my mind.
Mountain dulcimer is better (plus it's easy as fuck to play).
Okay.
The glass armonica is the coolest instrument ever, fite me. It is even more otherworldly sounding than a Theremin. I am a big fan of the Theremin, and it still falls short of Ben Franklin's masterpiece.
Plus it can give you lead poisoning in slow motion.
For expert level, go for the Santoor, the Kashmir version of the hammered dulcimer:
There’s a reason guitar became ubiquitous in music. No other instrument is as versatile nor as expressive. Everyone looks cool just holding s guitar, let alone playing it. It’s the second easiest instrument to just pick up and learn (provided you have at least three fingers across two hands). You don’t even need yo be that good to impress people; I’ve seen buskers make money in my shithole flyover country town singing over a solitary chord all day.
It sounds cool, everyone looks cool holding one, it feels cool to play.
