‘Happening’ or ‘Breaking news’ rating? - extra extra : shit happening itt

Several of the cow threads I follow to tend to generate a consistent flow of shitposting even when nothing of interest is happening. This leads to situations where newcomers or people who haven’t read the thread in a week or so have to wade through multiple pages of white noise to catch up (and then they don’t and just post asking what happened recently, spurring a page of rehash and making the thread even shittier).

This may be a terrible idea for reasons I haven’t considered, but what if we had a ‘breaking news’ rating for major events involving the subject and the ability to view the thread in a way that only showed posts with more than 5 news ratings? It’d definitely make finding the important info for wiki writeups a lot easier.

You can't really search posts based on ratings, as far as I know. Besides, you'd still have to wade through ironic happening rating posts, which would still be the majority, I think.

You might as well ask for the possibility of "pinning" (possibly by staff) important posts inside threads, where you can see the latest news right after the OP or something similar.

In XF2 a planned feature is a "best of" view.
In XF2.0 can you establish a user or set of users to be "top curator(s)" for a thread, basically giving them supervision powers (less deletion of file content, but with the power to remove posts from public view and to merge posts)?

That would be very unique to KF. I plan on building a best-of, I do not plan on building a thread moderator system so far. I already have enough false promises floating about.
