Has he outgrown it? it seems reasonable to think that he has..

There hasn't been an update in years... He no longer believes that it will get him billions of dollars ( I think :? ?)

He no longer has the trolls or sweethearts urging him on to make them... could it be that he has "given up" on Sonichu, and no longer "talks" to him, or cares about their lives in CWCVille? I also wonder if he still believes in an alternate Roger-Rabitt-esque "toon world?"

Thoughts?

If anything, his relationship with Sonichu and company has regressed into a more infantile state. Whereas years ago, he was sitting on a billion-dollar franchise empire, he's content/lazy enough these days to settle for their imaginary friendship.

One would think given his state of loneliness and loss of hope ( or whatever) he would be more committed to drawing comics and publishing them, if only as a means of escape from his smelly, decrepit bug infested world? perhaps it woudl help change :c into  ? or at least ;) ?

He seemed to enjoy the attention it gave him.... as crazy as it sounds, it probably would be in his best interst to continue his fan art....

No. Sonichu is the only reason Chris does basically anything. I mean, he did Modnation stuff, his Lego minifigure for himself has a medalion, and he basically made way too much stuff to care more. It was the trolls that caused him stress, causing him to quit. *sigh*

This.

Chris hasn't outgrown Sonichu; it's just something that he feels has been destroyed by the trolls. It's never going to be the perfect escapist fiction it used to be because various parties have interfered too much with it.

To kind of continue with this idea, I actually wonder if his plans to turn Sonichu into some sort of moneymaking franchise was ever truly a goal of his or just something he told people to get them to leave him alone while he retreats into his happy place.

I believe he thought it would make him da millions. It seems to be though that drawing it helps the creatures become more "alive". I wonder if there is anyway Jackie or the other trolls can persuade him into continuing :sonichu:'s adventures?

Oh he thought he was going to make money from it, it was just never his motivation. But, as a Mom-recognized creative genius, anything he writes has instant commercial appeal.

Perhaps if he made more narrated comics on youtube, he could become a youtube partner. Because of a love for atrocity tourism, people would stop to gawk at his work.

That's probably true. Sonichu was many things for Chris. The son/little brother/player 2 he always wanted who would help him complete his Love Quest and earn him millions as a cartoon franchise. Sonichu proved he was the creative genius his mom always agreed he was and his greatest life's achievement. Then reality steamrollered his autistic dreams flat, ruining his once-clean reputation, steel-bolting his crushed heart and you-know-the-rest.

Considering Sonichu is derived from two of the most profitable franchises in entertainment and that Chris began dropping "subtle" hints for his readers to beg for an official Sonichu franchise as early as Issue #1, I'd say making a shittonna money was always a goal.

That is until it devolved into the infamously surrealistic diary we know and love, but even then, Chris expected-and expects-his story will engage readers and executives with big bags of money.

There's also the fact that Chris is quite clearly suffering from depression these days (whether or not it's self inflicted is a moot point) and one of the symptoms of depression is that the sufferer loses interest in things that they previously enjoyed doing. Even the colourful, anything-is-possible, alternate reality of Cwckiville can't protect Chris from the crushing reality of his hopeless life.

You know, while Chris's sonichu could never be anything super lucative, he could definitely make cafe-press or redbubble.com of his drawings on shirts. I won't even lie, if I knew Chris Chan made me a t-shirt with some poorly drawn sonichu saying something iconic from christoria, I would buy that up, even pay 30$ lol.

There is a niche, once you get it, you are good. He could actually use it to his advantage, if he wanted.

He'd have to admit that Sonichu and everything about it is a complete Internet joke to do that, and his ego would never allow it. Now if someone ELSE started making money off of it, Chris would pitch a fit but then be okay with it as long as he got money from it(i.e. Vivian Gee and the Audiobooks)

I think Sonichu got tired of Chris's shit and outgrew him.

But seriously, this:
