Have you ever participated in a "community organization"? - Or are we all just a bunch of misanthropic sociopths?

I saw a video today where the White House Press Secretary was asked "If the vaccines work, why are people in the Biden administration still wearing masks? Doesn't that contribute towards the negative perception of masks and the jab?" and her response was "Well we aren't always the best messengers so we're working with local organizations and groups."
What the heck is a "local organization and group"? Furthermore, aren't "community organizations" just money laundering operations and a paid hobby for people who have nothing better to do?
Local organizations for homelessness are a way of making money off the homeless by creating groups that collect taxpayer money but if they ever actually solve anything they lose their job; "Community organizations" in developing countries are just locals being asked to take time out of their day to go to whatever passes for the local rec center and listen to some people talk about AIDS for a half-hour; etc. etc. etc.
It's not really a thing, is it? Nobody wants some social worker to show up at their third place and start bitching at them about masks.
Am I wrong? Have any of you guys experienced anything different?

I was saying just today that I think one contributing factor to everything going so far off the fucking rails this year is that people are joining local political organizations just to have some kind of human contact.

Although I don't think that's mutually exclusive to being a misanthropic sociopath.

The basic premise of such organizations failing is actually gatekeeping, the biggest reason for NPOs failing is because they often require qualifications and references, which means that they end up hiring narcissistic cunts who push away anyone who isn't a self-serving moron. A lot of the "head doctors" and public health officials are exactly the type of people you see in NPOs, and they're nastier in private.
