Have you told people IRL about Chris? -

Quite a while ago I remember discussing this on /cwc/ once, but I'm kinda curious as to what everyone here says about it.

Have you ever told people IRL about following Chris? How did they react or if you haven't told them, how do you think they would react?

I've only ever told one friend and I just told him a little about Chris I didn't tell him about the trolling history because I'm pretty sure that if my friends offline found out about some of the stuff that's happened over the years they'd be pretty horrified.

Even with the heavy editing, my friend was a bit mystified as to why I would be obsessed with an autistic man-child.

Christory is sort of like my secret life that I keep from my boyfriend. Not that I think he would be offended or anything by my interest in Chris, it's just that I don't know how to explain Chris to him or why I spend so much time combing articles and posting on forums about some loser who has nothing to do with my life at all. He's 11 years older than I am and he's not really into the internet for anything other than practical purposes - although I did recently introduce him to Encyclopedia Dramatica and he loves it. I'm kind of hoping he will just naturally come across Chris in his browsing (Chris-Chan is the Kevin Bacon of ED) and I can see how he reacts. Probably just a brief chuckle before he clicks on something else and moves on... I guess we Christorians are destined walk alone in our strange hobby. (:_(

I showed my friend the CWCki article, and I mention OPL around him. Chris definitely grosses him out, especially with the whole Fanta thing.
I don't usually tell people about Chris, mainly because if I don't tell the long explanation as to who he is and why I'm 'making fun of him', people can get the wrong idea. If I just say 'He's an autistic guy who wrote a bad comic,' people are gonna get pissed that I'm making fun of an autistic. Even if I try to put in as many details as possible that would help my case, it probably wouldn't help much. People could still get angry at what I'm doing. They'd have to read the CWCki article to actually know what's up with this guy.

Yeah, I've introduced most of my good friends and/or girlfriends to Chris. Some find him as morbidly fascinating as I do, some are kind of indifferent. My last girlfriend still texts me with CWCisms every now and again, which makes me chuckle. Save for one, none have reacted with any kind of negativity, and she changed her tune pretty quick when I showed her ECV 00095. That's usually my jumping off point, because eating your own semen to "recycle" your sperm and shitting yourself in your late 20s are pretty fucking bizarre by just about anyone's standards.

Now bear in mind, these are people who know me well enough to know that I have a fairly eclectic personality, so aren't surprised that I'd be fascinated with the antics of a fat autistic manchild. Mere acquaintances of mine don't get exposed to Chris... for various reasons, not the least of which is because not everyone can deal with the fact that such a sad, weird, person with absolutely no qualms about sharing the most sordid details of his pitiful life actually exists.

I introduced my boyfriend to Chris after he had seen the drawings of the sonichus and rosechus that I've done. The first video I showed him was cakefarts. He was quite horrified and was confused as to why I find such a person interesting, so I showed him a couple of other videos and he eventually thought that Chris was a bizarre being but yet interesting on a odd scale. Even though he is weirded out Chris, he finds the Sonichu comics entertaining.

I told a few people from my college about Chris. One said he looks like a psycho, another thought I was obsessed with Chris due to having some of his vids on my ipod, and another thought Chris' home reminded him of his job of cleaning and renovating/building homes. I also showed him to a couple friends who joked about me wanting to have sex with Chris. I also mentioned him to my parents as a source of inspiration though I only mentioned the fact that he's an adult who has a useless degree, lives with his parents, and mooches off the government while sitting his bottom all day playing vidya. I did show some of them a few vids of Chris ( House tour video, Get the House video off the internet, Sonichu video where he showed fan art and made some sort of business plans for Sonichu). Never showed the videos to my parents though I wonder what their reaction would be to the House tour video.

I've told my girlfriend. She's definitely not as interested as I am. She'll let me show her videos every once in a while, and I've gotten her to use a few CWC-isms in texts, but overall she thinks it's weird to be following him so closely. She's just not as fascinated as I am, I guess.

I think it requires a certain kind of personality to get really, really into Chris.

I showed some videos to my girlfriend, and gave her a brief explanation to why it's funny, and why I'm not a sick bastard for doing it (I guess). She kinda laughed, but when I brought it up again some months after, she was like "Chris? Who? Ah, that guy".

I also showed it to a friend of mine, and it was similar. He laughed and almost instantly shrugged it off. So yeah, I think the CWC Experience it's not for everyone.

My family already thinks that I'm into some really weird stuff. I honestly fear that they wouldn't doubt to immediately pull off a Lumberjack on me if they knew the actual lengths of the craziness that I like to follow through the Interwebz...

Plus, I suffered a lot of bullying throughout elementary and junior high school and they would most probably think that I'm some kind of hypocrite for enjoying America's favorite game in my adulthood.

In a few words: No, Chris Chan is my dirty, little personal secret.

My brother is a little familiar with Chris, enough to think that Chris's life is really depressing and hysterical. I was home for my grandfather's funeral when Chris's Sonichu drawing got published in "Slylock Fox". As soon as I saw the info on the CWCki, I grabbed the local funny pages to verify and then barged into my brother's room yelling, "you're not going to believe this shit!" We had breakfast and had a good laugh.

My wife sees me reading the CWCki and she laughed long and hard over Chris's "sweetheart search pictures," particularly the one where he slouched in his chair and staring emptily at the ceiling with a creepy grin on his face.
