HBO Max and Cartoon Network Make Series Commitment For Batman: Caped Crusader

All-New Animated Series Produced by Warner Bros. Animation, Bad Robot Productions, 6th & Idaho

Executive Producers Bruce Timm, J.J. Abrams and Matt Reeves Present the Next Animated Chapter of the Dark Knight

Batman: Caped Crusader Announce_May Upfronts 2021

Burbank, CA (May 19, 2021) — HBO Max and Cartoon Network have greenlit a straight to series order for Batman: Caped Crusader, an all-new animated series and reimagining of the Batman mythology through the visionary lens of executive producers Bruce Timm, J.J. Abrams and Matt Reeves and produced by Warner Bros. Animation (WBA), Bad Robot Productions and 6th & Idaho. The news was announced today by Tom Ascheim, President, Warner Bros. Global Kids, Young Adults and Classics (GKYAC) and Sam Register, President, Warner Bros. Animation (WBA) and Cartoon Network Studios (CNS).

Tom Ascheim said: “It is always fun to feed the insatiable appetite fans have for all things Batman. Batman: Caped Crusader will entertain first time and die-hard fans alike and, with such an impressive creative team in place, we know we have another future Batman classic in the making.”

Batman: Caped Crusader represents Timm’s return to the iconic DC character in animated episodic television, which began with the Emmy® Award-winning Batman: The Animated Series. Praised by many to be the gold standard of animated superhero storytelling, Batman: The Animated Series is considered one of the best depictions of the Dark Knight in any medium.

Now, nearly 30 years since the series premiered, Timm once again takes on the mantle of the Bat alongside two of the most acclaimed filmmakers in the industry: J.J. Abrams and Matt Reeves. Utilizing state-of-the-art animation techniques and technologies available, this powerful creative partnership will once again reinvent Batman and his iconic rogue’s gallery with sophisticated storytelling, nuanced characters and intense action sequences all set in a visually striking world.

Sam Register said: “Batman: The Animated Series was a masterpiece that shaped the perception of the character for an entire generation of fans. It is in that spirit that we are bringing together three master storytellers in J.J., Matt and Bruce – each with their own intuitive understanding and affection for the character – to create a new series that will continue in the same groundbreaking legacy.”

Executive Producers Bruce Timm, J.J. Abrams and Matt Reeves said: “We are beyond excited to be working together to bring this character back, to tell engrossing new stories in Gotham City. The series will be thrilling, cinematic and evocative of Batman’s noir roots, while diving deeper into the psychology of these iconic characters. We cannot wait to share this new world.”

I don't even understand why he and Bad Robot are even involved in this. They have no experience in animation never mind comic book related material (until recently).
It's an opportunity for JJ to work his way into an established property and try to steal a large share of the profits, or try to usurp the rights wholesale. It's the same trick he pulled with the Star Trek reboots, after all.

He can't help himself, it's a (((compulsion))).

You know the ironic thing is, Spielberg didn't have any particular experience with animation either, and yet he helped produced Pinky & the Brain, the Animaniacs, and freaking Freakazoid. The guy had an eye for talent, but JJ? No. Not even close.
Speilberg is also smart enough to hire animators and leave them alone to animate. Heck, he had also used his clout at
WB to tell the excutives to leave the animators alone. JJ probably does not have that clout ..nor is he smart enough to stay away.

J.J. Abrams
Lol, instant failure.
Him, Whedon, and Snyder are all one-dimensional dead-horse acts that are long past their sell-by date.

He was also responsible for the Batgirl prologue in the animated adaption of The Killing Joke where her and Batman have sex.
TBF, he's not the first to imply or express the sexual tension between Bats and Gordon's little girl.
I personally think that they definitely would be fucking, given how co-workers in stressful jobs like nursing and medicine end up fucking around with each other, but I also don't want to be reminded about it.
