Its actually very disturbing reading and really shows what a completely awful organisation Mermaids are. They started off in the 1990s with good intentions but have become enablers of a cult-like affirmation-only ideology.

They completely neglected the specifics of the case with regard to this child and enabled a mother who's motives were definitely pathological and quite possibly relating to Munchhousens by proxy and I'm willing to bet there are similar such cases .

I hate that the supposedly woke lefties are completely and deliberately oblivious to the sexism and homophobia that permeates Mermaid's ideology. If you bring up any facts or statistics, or court cases relating to the matter all they can do is reflexively shout "TERF" at you without analysing what you are saying.

These idiots are spouting nonsense that is about as medically sound as chiropractic medicine, healing crystals and homeopathy and what's worse is that they are very likely to get this kind of medical negligence to be institutionalised. I look forward to seeing these stupid fucks walk back their positions as the facts and court cases roll in.

If I remember correctly they used to be a lot more about providing support and had something on their website along the lines of "being gender non-conforming doesn't necessarily make you trans" and were against self-medding etc. In the years since they've gone full off the deep end.

Probably both late and off-topic on this, but whatever. I decided to look into Mermaids because I don't want to disregard people doing good work just because they were supported by someone I like taking the piss out of. I can safely say I no longer feel that way.

This is fairly innocuous, but it does hint at a larger problem within the trans cult. Most people don't actually care all that much, and only really start to care when it's shoved down their throat. Like, you know, Mermaids seems intent upon doing.

Basically, Mermaids supports people too young to really understand what transgenderism is and who they are, and are impressionable enough to be indoctrinated into the cult. Also, the fuck does gender diverse mean? I'm pretty familiar with the insane side of transgenderism, but I've never heard that particular word salad before.

The surveys, by the way, aren't sourced, so who knows how they came to that number. What was the sample size? What was the ratio of male/female? What was the age range of the participants? Who knows?
Also note that word "identifying". Most trans people I know don't 'identify' as trans/man/woman. They acknowledge its a medical disorder that they're trying to manage as best they can. So the fact that they use it immediately sets off alarm bells, because they're minimising a severe medical condition.

There was a section for the kids' testimonials as well, but it was mostly cringy poetry. It just made me sad.

I kind of feel for Evie in this one. Evie never states that s/he wants to be a girl, just that s/he wants to wear dresses. In fact, Evie states that his/her biggest dream was to own a dress. It's the mom, Kelly, who forces the idea that Evie must be a girl on her child for the simple fact that the child is effeminate.

We started seeing the specialist staff at the Tavistock just as Evie turned five, so hopefully the right treatment will be available if she decides to go down that road in the future.

So the poor kid has no chance of ever coming to his/her own conclusions and possibly come to the realisation that s/he was mistaken about being trans.

Jack is keen to start with hormone blockers before female puberty starts to change his body.

I'm sure it's a decision that's been fully informed and carefully considered by this twelve year old. Because preteens have the cognitive capabilities to make life changing decisions. What do you mean I can't let my eleven year old get the tattoo he so desperately wants?

There was so much more, but reading it actually made me feel sick. On the one hand, I do feel bad for the parents because they're just trying to do the best for their kids, but on the other, they're letting literal children modify and mutilate their bodies because of a 'feeling' and things that these same parents expect their kids to do because of their sex.

• Utility bill with your full name and address shown
• Current driving licence with your full name and address shown
• Bank or credit card statement with full name and address shown
• Council tax bill with full name and address shown
• HMRC letter or statement with full name and address shown

They claim it's because people have infiltrated other groups and spread personal information. So the solution is to give them more information rather than less to protect people's identity. Becuase putting your full name and address on the internet has never gone wrong for anyone ever. Minor gripe, all things considered, but it certainly raised an eyebrow.

I'm tempted to fill in a form for the youth forum and poke around a bit just to see what kind of bizarro hugbox it is, but given that these are literal children -- confused children likely pushed into it by their parents -- but it wouldn't feel right.

I know there's not a lot that's really damning here, and if you weren't paying attention, then Mermaids would seem like a fantastic charity to donate to. But that's why it scares me and sickens me so much. These people are hiding the fact that they're manipulating children into decisions that will affect them for the rest of their lives. It's a veneer of "We're helping trans kids and teenagers!" when the best help you could give them is unbiased councilling. Hormone blockers should be on a case-by-case basis (that case being this kid is about an hour away from killing himself) and not something handed out like candy because a child 'feels' a certain way.

As a place where we generally just sit back and laugh at idiots, it's understandable hard to keep yourself from A-logging when the people we're dealing with are so obviously hurting innocents and it's celebrated.
All I can say is hold it in and hope their crimes catch up to them. If not, the detransitions and suicides in years to come will be their comeuppance.

Disregarding the shady past of Mermaids UK, it's not that hard to understand children shouldn't be allowed to make such decisions. They'll fundamentally alter their body when their prefrontal cortex isn't even fully grown yet, they're at a critical time in their lives when peer pressure and role models play an instrumental role in their future development, and it is for that exact reason they are prohibited from driving, voting or having sex until a certain age.
They can't be expected to rationally make such decisions, let alone a life changing one like modifying body growth and mental development through alteration of hormones.
We're not even touching the unsafe and uncatalogued nature of these treatments, or whether these children are being coerced or not.

Going through Mermaids twitter and that list, it would appear local idiot Owen Jones, Viva Reverie (an MLP animator well known for their wacky and funny animations), Virgil Texas (one of the hosts of Chapo), and pretty much the entire leftist wing of YT chimed in to show their support.
